Can I schedule an invoice to be automatically sent at a future date?

Yes, you can create a scheduled recurring transaction in QuickBooks Online Essentials and Plus. Let me guide you how to create a recurring invoice.

1. Go to Gear icon and select Recurring transactions.
2. Select New.
3. Select the type of transaction to create, and then select OK.
4. Enter a Template name.
5. On Type dropdown select Scheduled.
6. Select Customer and enter Email.
7. Tick Automatically send emails. 
8. Complete the fields and select Save template.

I already have created the invoice and have it ready to send. I just want to be able to set a date that it is automatically sent in the future.

At the moment, only invoices created as a scheduled recurring invoice will be automatically sent. All invoices created directly at + New or Sales> Invoices tab needs to be sent manually.

As stated by my colleague, you can utilize our Recurring Transactions to schedule and send your invoice automatically.

Here are the steps and some screenshots for your visual reference on how to make recurring transactions:

1. Go to the Gear icon and click on Recurring Transactions, or go to Transactions on the left panel and select Recurring Transactions.

2. Choose your desired Transactions Type, then click OK. 

3. Continue modifying the rest of the field and then click Save Template.
