The QBO desktop app will be discontinued on April 20th, 2021, and will no longer have updates available for download, or supported by our Customer Success teams. However, you can still open your QBO companies using any of our Supported browsers.
If you have other questions about the QBO desktop app, feel free to reach back out.
Let me know how the steps work for you.
Yep, seems they're not supporting the desktop app any more.
Not very happy. Poor decision.
Yes, icecafe.
The QBO desktop app is up to April 2021 only. Though you can still continue to use it, we'd recommend accessing your QBO company using a browser for a better experience.
We're just around if you have questions.
it's time to look for new accounting software ! The app is the best part of the QBO experience. You are making a big mistake!
As for the comment using a browser for a better experience, thats rather subjective. I for one much prefer the desktop app to using the browser.
Purely from a developer point of view, a browser can never give the same experience as a desktop app. Just not technically possible.
I often use the app to do billing from my smartphone. I am an attorney. Will the android smartphone app still work? Before the pandemic, I used to create an invoice while in Court from my phone.
Thanks for joining this thread, @HBuetow. I'm here to clarify things for you.
The QuickBooks Online (QBO) mobile app will still work on your android device. You can use it to perform certain billing tasks and create invoices as usual while you’re in Court. What's affected by the said update are the QBO Windows and Mac desktop apps.
Additionally, here are some articles you can review to guide you manage invoices using QuickBooks Online app:

This decision will end up costing QB a lot of customers!
We are an asset manager with +15 QB accounts for the different investments and I can assure you that the browser app that only let's you view one company at a time is simply not going to work for us. The multi-company view with different tabs is not available in the browser app and is the main difference between the browser and desktop apps. I can't imagine we're the only ones having multiple QBO accounts and companies so this stupid decision will impact a lot of customers that will have no option but to find a different accounting software that is able to support multiple companies at a time.
We actually started demoing other accounting software when the message came up last month as the discontinued desktop app is not a "solution" that we are willing to work with unless the functionality of the browser app is upgraded to match the desktop app.
