I’ve got some information to share with you, Paul.
When converting company data from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), you’ll want to make sure both products have the same region.
Since you’re using QBO South Africa, moving your data to QBDT isn’t possible. Please know that QBDT is only available in the United States (US), United Kingdom (UK), and Canada.
These US articles provide complete instructions about converting your data from QBO to QBDT and its limitations. The processes also apply in other Desktop regions:
In addition, here’s a user guide that will help you get familiar with QBDT and how it is set up: Get QuickBooks Desktop user guides.
If there’s anything else I can help you with besides converting your company data, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below. I’ll be here. Keep safe!
Do you need to migrate data from QBO South Africa version to QBD US version? You may have 2 ways:
1. Utilize a migration tool. i.e TPExporter for Online, TPImporter for Desktop

2. Purchase a 3rd party conversion service.
