Setting a price for a "Bundle"

I need to set a price for a "Bundle" that is not a sum of the items in that bundle. I'm trying to use the Bundle function as a poor-man's warehouse and assembly plant manager.

Setting a price for a "Bundle"

It's a silly option and doesn't help anyone, I'll wager.

Who would ever bundle items and charge the buyer simply the sum of the items' price?

I need to keep bundles as stock items and be able to mark them up in price.

Please make this a priority or I will have to move to Sage or Dynamics to manage my inventory and sales. I really don't want to do that. Really.

QB is a low price high volume product.. The idea is it's a base accounting program where users can subscribe to 3rd party apps to fulfill there own specialized needs.  Inventory assembly capability must have been determined by QB to not be a need for the base program, which makes sense to me.   I don't think the threat of using another product is a motivating factor.

Do you have a suggestion for a 3rd party app company? I am trying to list the items in a group but not the individual prices of the group items - just the total cost of the group. Quickbooks has promised to find me some help for this but they have yet to follow through. Thanks.

I set all of the prices at $0 for the items accept for the hardware is set at the price for the entire bundle.  This worked for me.

QBO just sucks.

Can not be done, the bundle is just a nickname for a bunch of items sold together, think kit

You could add an item you set up as a discount to lower the total price of all items in the bundle, but that is the only work around

Actually, it can be done, exactly the way Rustler said. Just add the discount as a new inventory item and set the price to a negative number, it works perfectly.

Hi,
Just put a discount value as an item on each bundle and hide the bundle information from printing on customer invoice or receipt.

While it is a clever solution, it really doesn't solve the problem if you are integrating with an online selling channel and want to automate invoicing.  If some customers pay one price and other pay a different price, you would have to adjust the price in the bundle manually.  If they would just allow the bundle to have a price, this is solved.  Heck I wouldn't care if they programmed it to create a price adjustment item in each bundle and the price of that adjusts to make the bundle equal the set bundle price.  Just don't make it manual.  If you have 1300 bundles, doing manual stuff is a waste.  Quickbooks really needs to catch up and allow importing of bundles and pricing of bundles.  This is really simple stuff and a lot of app can handle this so QBO needs to get on it......Please.

Setting a price for a "Bundle"

Hi there, @Weiners

The only workaround we have is that add an item manually you set up as a discount to reduce the total price of all items in the bundle as what @Rustler stated.

I understand the importance of this feature for you and your business. Rest assured, I'll personally send this feedback to our product developers. This way, it might be given a chance to be added to our next product update.

You can check out this article for additional reference: Add a discount to an invoice or sales receipt in QuickBooks Online.

I suggest visiting our Blog site. This is where we share recent happenings and future developments, such as updates to newly added features. Here's the link: The QuickBooks Blog.

What the author of the post is trying to achieve, actually is marking UP the price!
So a discount won't ever work

An conversely you can add an item called something like 'Labour' to a bundle which is a great way to make an 'Assembly', eg a bill of materials that are assembled into a finished product.

Consider having an inventory management app with a simple assembly feature. If your assembly process is complex, consider having a manufacturing app.

Can we get an update on this? Is there a way to manually change the price of the bundle. It seems like such a simple feature to add!

I appreciate you for joining this thread and asking for updates, pagexrage.

As of this writing, the option to manually change the price of the bundle in QuickBooks Online Accountant is still unavailable.

In the meantime, you can follow Rustler's suggestion. Otherwise, use a third-party application or any inventory management app that can be integrated with QBO as recommended by Fiat Lux.

Feel free to visit our QuickBooks Apps website for a list of applications that works best with QBO.

While the feature is not yet available, I want you to be updated with the latest product enhancements made in QBO. Check out this link to get there: QuickBooks Blog.

I'm also looking forward to seeing this feature soon. Please stay tuned for updates. Let me know if you have questions. I'll be around to help. Have a good one!

@pagexrage

You may need an inventory management app to do so. I am not sure company will put it as the basic feature in QBO Plus.

So I'm late to the party on this topic but I agree with several other posts. The workaround is to have a Product & Service item as part of the bundle that reduces the price of the total. I've set them up in the past with a taxable discount item and a non-taxable discount item so services combined with products in a bundle can be adjusted separately. On the other hand, if pricing and tracking retail assemblies is the objective, a point of sale system or app should be what keeps the inventory pricing details and QBO only used to summarize income from sales. Even some POS apps like Square don't handle assemblies though so it may take some looking to find the right solution. The lack of this function doesn't really diminish QBO's effectiveness, it's just not part of it's intended purpose.

I know this is very late for this question but I had this same situation.  As others have said - I create two inventory items.  One is  "discount" of -$1.00 and and the other is an "additional" of $1.00.  Then I manually do the math and add the it to the bundle.  If the difference is 13.46 less then I just do 13.46 of the "discount" bundle. Since I have it set as a negative it works as a discount.

Total pain when the prices change as I have to manually re-work everything.  Would be so much better to be able to set a bundle price.

Setting a price for a "Bundle"

Hi there!

Thanks for joining this post. Let me assist you with the bundle pricing.

Although QuickBooks Online offers a bundle feature in setting up items, we're unable to set a bundle pricing. It's great that you're able to utilise the discount option.

I suggest you send feedback and let our developers know that you need bundle pricing in QuickBooks Online. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
