Hello, I have set up 3 different templates in my QB and I have read the instructions to choose 'customize' at the bottom to choose which template I would like to use, however when I try to choose a different one, nothing ever changes. What am I missing? I see the 3 I created, and they are all different, but I don't know how to switch between them.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Crystal
Thanks for visiting us here, @TheCrystalCookieJar.
I'll share the steps on how you can switch invoice templates. All you have to do is select the Customise button below the invoice.
Below are the easy steps:
With the above steps, you're able to switch between templates whichever you desire. For details, check out this guide: Customise invoices, quotes, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
I'm also attaching this link in case you need help managing customer-related tasks: Topics about your company's income and customers.

Thank you for your quick reply! However, this does not work. When I choose the different templates I have created, nothing changes.
When I choose the different templates, the content of the invoices (the body of the invoice text which is different for each of mine) does not change. I have to manually change it every single time I need to switch between invoices.
And Now I am realizing actually that all of my invoices are exactly the same. When I make a change to one, it changes them all. So in reality none of them are different. This doesn't make any sense.
Hello, TheCrystalCookieJar.
I can share with you some troubleshooting steps to get around the changes you've made in the templates. I recommend logging out and logging in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. This will refresh the connection and for any changes to take effect.
If this didn't work, I suggest accessing your account on a private or incognito window. This way, we can check if this issue is caused by browser cache.
The browser uses cache and cookies to help load web pages faster on your next visit. However, this can cause odd behavior that affects the views and performance of QBO. Using a private window is the best way in identifying the issue as this doesn't save any junk files.
To open an incognito window, you can follow these keyboard shortcuts:
If you’re able to view the changes made, I’d suggest deleting your browser cache to refresh the system. If the issue persists, I recommend using other supported browsers. This way, we can identify if this is a browser-integrated issue.

Hi there, none of this is working. Nothing at all happens when I go down and click 'customize' and choose various templates listed there. It stays as my standard invoice. I even tried deleting my templates and making new ones.

I'm having the exact same issue. I start a new invoice and try to change to a different template under "customize" but the screen does not change to the selected template.
Thank you for visiting again the QuickBooks Community, KFib. I'll be sharing troubleshooting steps to ensure you can change your invoice template to a different one.
Sometimes the created template will be damaged, causing it to no longer apply to your sales transactions. To resolve this, I recommend deleting the selected template and recreating it.
Here's how to delete:
Once done, you can create the template again with the same details.
If the issue persists, I recommend logging in to your QuickBooks account using a private browser. Then, open or create a new invoice from there and choose the specific template. This is to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue, and private browsing doesn't store local files or cache.
Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using.
If it works in incognito, you'll have to clear the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.
Lastly, you may refer to this article to view steps on how you can record payment for a single invoice and enter partial payment for an entry: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.
