Should the customer name come up when you search an invoice on the Receive Payment tab and it finds the invoice

Once the invoice has been found then the customer name does not change to the customer that is linked to that invoice

I appreciate this detailed information, Barry. Let me provide an alternative option instead to get you going. 

 

First off, are you trying to find an invoice by clicking the Find by invoice no.? If so, yes, the customer's name won't show since this will only allow you to search for a specific invoice number.

 

However, you can search for the customer's name instead. Doing so will lead you to all of their open invoices displayed.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Go to the +New icon.
  3. Click Receive payment.
  4. Select the name under the Customer dropdown.

Hi, this is what it is doing currently. When I do payments and put the invoice number in. The invoice do come up for payment BUT the customer name linked to these invoices do not appear in the customer block on the payment window. I cannot verify the customer to an invoice number. I cannot see who the customer is linked to the invoice number. Previously the two were linked. I need the customer name to appear when I search the invoice in my customer payment window.  Regards Barry
