Export to excel - duration format HELP!

Please help!   I export reports each week to pull hours (duration) by employee.   the duration column has ALWAYS been formatted as a decimal (40.00) so they can be added up, averaged, etc.   Today, as I'm trying to pull my reports in, the duration column is coming in as TEXT (40:00) which I can't use formulas with. Please help!  I have tons of reports that I do every Thursday night and now I'm freaking out!

Attached a file to show the difference. I need it back to the old format for formulas to work!

Export to excel - duration format HELP!

Thanks for reaching out to us, @louann3.

Allow me to share information with you about running reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When pulling a report for the Time Activities of your Employees, the Duration information is formatted as Time Hours (40:00).

If you want to have the time converted into the number of hours, you can export the report to excel. Then, multiply the time by 24 hours, and you'll want to make sure it's formatted to a decimal number.

For more information about running reports, see below links which you may find helpful:

If you have specific questions, please let me know. I will be more than happy to further assist you. Have a nice day.

Export to excel - duration format HELP!

Thank you for the work around.   Up until Wed, I would export the Time Activities report to excel and the duration column showed decimals and not  hours.  Frustrating that it changed.  :(

Time Format is NOT HELPFUL when processes have been built on the time being exported as a DECIMAL until now. There should be at least an option to select formatting requirements, not change this drastically without notice!

Explore an exporter tool as a workaround.

Export to excel - duration format HELP!

CAN QUICKBOOKS JUST PLEASE REVERT BACK TO THE OLD DECIMAL SYSTEM!!! .25, .50 and .75 instead of .15, .30 and .45!!  We should not have to do work arounds because suddenly someone in intuit decided this was their preferred option!! The original post- is not alone in needing to run reports in excel!  Because INTUIT does not meet all of our needs!!

Mirriam M- you are missing the point of the question!!  The USER KNOWS HOW TO RUN THE DANG REPORTS!  INTUIT did a change that has caused the numbers in the reports to go from .25, .50, .75 TO .15, .30 and .45- THIS IS THE ISSUE!! Intuit needs to fix this- either give the users the option to choose the format they want or put it back to one that mathematically works with other programs with a user to have to do work arounds

Export to excel - duration format HELP!

Dear ALL Frustrated users,

After spending an hour with a QB Support Rep (very genuine, professional, supportive), investigating WHAT WE CAN DO at this point...is to POST 'FEEDBACK' in the QB App (top right corner). QB Developers read these and make updates accordingly 2x monthly based on the feedback shared.

I can account for at least 5 users of my team whom have logged this complaint as 'feedback' just today. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD so this can be resolved sooner than later.

Thanks for your post.

I will be posting "feedback" in all my clients books and have my boss do the same. This is a ridiculous change!

Thank you Smile 74 for taking so much time on this! I know it can be a time suck calling in!
