My bank login URL has changed and QBO doesn't recognize the old URL

My bank changed its platform and has a new login page (URL). Of course the existing banking connection cannot login using my valid credentials as the page it's pointed to is incorrect. Sure, it would be too easy to simply edit the URL. I've been told three different things from three different phone support reps.

It almost seems that QBO support has never encountered this as there is no protocol. I find this hard to believe as this cannot be that uncommon. I'm sure it doesn't happen everyday, but for the love of god, there must be a flow chart for this kind of thing.

Has anyone encountered this and if so, what is the correct procedure. I'm getting the generic 103 code. Thanks much.

My bank login URL has changed and QBO doesn't recognize the old URL

Hi there, @xroadracer

Great day and thanks for visiting the Community. I appreciate you for sharing the detailed information of your concern.

Banking error 103 means your banking credentials in QuickBooks (QBO) didn't match with what you have on file from your Financial Institution (FI).

Since you have an existing connection and recently changed your banking credentials (username or password) on your FI's website, let's perform these steps below to fix the error. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking tab on the left pane.
  2. Select Banking.
  3. Locate the account that generates Error 103.
  4. Click the pencil icon, then select Edit sign-in info.
  5. Enter your new credentials and select Update.

Make sure to enter your username and password directly instead of allowing the browser to auto-fill your login credentials.

You can check this article to learn about how to fix banking error 103 in QBO: Fix banking error 103 in QuickBooks Online.

If the issue persists, I'd suggest you check other listed versions of your bank name. Refer to this help article: Identify the correct bank for more detailed steps.

Please let me know if you have any other banking concerns, I'll be always here to help you. Have a good one!

My bank login URL has changed and QBO doesn't recognize the old URL

Hi Katherine. Thank you for getting back with me. The credentials are definitely not the issue as I've already followed your instructions. Believe me I've made certain the credentials are current. For sure... no question about it.

Once again, the FI completely revamped their online banking user interface and also changed the login page. Meaning, the login URL has changed.

The current bank connection points to the wrong URL for the login page.

If I "add account" and search for the same bank I can see the new bank connection. This is the new connection my FI advised me to use. Seems obvious that the solution would be to change the current connection. See attached screenshot.

Thanks K. -Mike

We can set up the new account, xroadracer.

You can disconnect the old account and connect the new one so the current transactions will be available in your bank feeds. Disconnecting an account will remain active in QBO but it stops from getting your bank transactions. Those transactions that were in your For Review tab will be deleted.

Here's how to disconnect:

  1. Go to the Banking page.
  2. Click the blue bank tile and at its upper-right, click the pencil icon
  3. In the Account details, click the Disconnect this account on save box
  4. Click Save and Close

Let's connect the account again using the new bank's URL. Enter your updated login credentials and follow the onscreen instructions to successfully connect it.

Once they're available in your bank feeds you can now manage them which you can assign, categorize, edit or add them.

If there's anything else that you need, you can always reach out to me.

My bank login URL has changed and QBO doesn't recognize the old URL

Hi Catherine. Is this the specific protocol one needs to follow when the FI changes their login URL? I mean... is this QBO final word on how to deal with this situation?

If so, they should really train their tech support staff. I was one the phone for 2 hours 7 minutes yesterday plus the first two calls. The second tech support rep told me I needed to send the bank a link (they emailed to me) to a site where they needed to make changes. Of course the bank told me I was out of my mind. That took an hour on the phone with them, then were was the first call.

Nuts.

Good to have you back, xroadracer.

Yes, that's correct. We need to disconnect your account. But, make sure that there's no pending transactions. If there's still pending transactions, we may need to add them first before disconnecting the account. You can follow the steps provided by my colleague on how to disconnect it.

Once done, we'll reconnect it using the new bank's URL.

Keep us posted if you have additional questions. We're here to help you out.

My bank login URL has changed and QBO doesn't recognize the old URL

I am experiencing a similar issue. I am trying to set up my bank feed for the first time, but when I try to set it up, I get error code OLSU-1013 (which my bank told me was because they had a new URL that hadn't been updated in the QB system yet). They tried to walk me through setting up my bank feed using the URL, but I cannot seem to navigate to a page where I can enter a bank's URL. I only see a box where I can type in my bank's name. Any thoughts on how to enter the bank's new URL or is this something that needs to be done by QB? My bank communicated to me that this is a known problem and had requested the update be made by QB, but it appears it has not been updated yet. Looking for a work around so that I do not need to hand enter each transaction before taxes are due. Thanks in advance for any advise!

My bank login URL has changed and QBO doesn't recognize the old URL

Hello @pcc19, may I know the name of your bank?

You can enter the new website of your bank by connecting it to the banking feeds.

  1. Go to Banking.
  2. Click Add account.
  3. On the Search address, enter your bank's website.
  4. Enter your banking credentials.
  5. Select Continue.
  6. Click Connect.

I'm adding a few references here for ideas about categorising your online transactions after connecting your bank account.

I'll be here if you need more help. Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I'm not sure why, but that is not an option on my QB Desktop. See below.

My bank login URL has changed and QBO doesn't recognize the old URL

Hello there, pcc19.

For QuickBooks Desktop, the option to enter the URL is unavailable. The error you've encountered is due to a bank security requirement,

Before anything else, let's update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. Here's an article for the steps: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

Once done, please make sure of the following:

If you haven't used the Classic (Register) mode, then you can follow these steps to switch it:

  1. Go to Edit Preferences.
  2. Select Checking on the left panel, and then click the Company Preferences tab.
  3. In the Bank Feeds section, select the Classic Mode (Register Mode) radio button.
  4. Click OK.

Otherwise, follow Step 1 in this article: Fix OL and OLSU Bank Feeds errors in QuickBooks Desktop. You can also use the other steps if it's not working.

Please let us know if you need anything else. I'll be around to help you some more.

My bank login URL has changed and QBO doesn't recognize the old URL

I'm having a similar issue.  I bank with Arundel Federal Savings Bank and qb has the bank url as www.arundelfederal.com.  That's the main website, but the online banking login is now https://online.arundelfederal.com/login/

Even if I disconnect those accounts, when I go to add them, qb is pointing towards the wrong url, so it doesn't help me.  There's got to be an easier workaround for qb to update a url when this happens.

Hello, ronnierukus.

Good work on reconnecting your bank. It's one of the ways to see if they updated their link for the Banking feature.

I have another recommendation on how we can update the bank URL for Arundel. We can send a request to them to update it. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking page.
  2. Enter Arundel in the search box.
  3. Click the Still can't find your bank? link.
  4. Type Arundel Federal Savings Bank in the Bank name text box.
  5. Copy and paste the new URL in the Bank web address (URL) field.
  6. Hit Request

Take note that the bank has the final say on the request. It will take time for them to review it. While waiting, I would recommend manually uploading your Arundel transactions into QuickBooks Online.

You can check this article for the steps and details: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

After bringing them in, you can start categorizing your transactions, then reconciling them

Changes to our bank are something that we need to keep note of. Like you, I often have to go through my third-party connections to update the bank details.

You can leave your QuickBooks-related concerns on the comments. You can also post a new thread in the Community space.

I am also having the same issue with Elan Financial Services.  However, when going to the Bank Feeds and searching for my bank (it does show up) however, there is no option to click on "Dont see your bank".

Let me help you in reconnecting your account, cburrhus.

Have you tried using the bank's website URL? If not, use that on the search button when adding your bank. If you're still unable to connect your bank account, click on Still can't find your bank? link. This way, you can request for your bank to be added in the system.

For now, I would recommend manually uploading your bank transactions into QuickBooks Online.

My bank login URL has changed and QBO doesn't recognize the old URL

I am also having this problem.

My bank got bought out by another bank, so the login URL changed. I have followed your instructions. I've told it to disconnect on save. Then went to the existing account in my account list in QBO and told it to add an account. But when I do this, it is adding it as a new account, and not connecting it to the existing account in QBO (which has YEARS' worth of historical data).
