Kotak and SBI corp accounts not integrating any longer

I have 2 companies, one each connected to Kotak Mahindra and SBI online. They are no longer accessible to via QB; updates have stopped. I first reported this to QB in the last week of June; since then, I have written multiple times, but have a stock response.

Today I tried manual uploading, and it led to devastating accounting errors. Have just got off 2 hours of phone calls with QB tele executives. It was crystal clear that this software is built to work with bank updates; it has multiple technical issues linked with manual updates. Without banking updates, as we all know, there is absolutely no justification to have a QB account.

What I find unforgivable is that the company has neither issued a statement nor sent us instructions on workarounds.

If you are reading this and having a similar problem, please get in touch with me, I would like to initiate some sort of collective action. The least that the company should do is suspend subscription fees for the duration that this crisis continues, or better still, return the fees ( I had resubscribed just last month!!!). I find this silence thoroughly unethical and exploitative. Have started tweeting about it today, please find me on this twitter handle - nishabora or write to me info at the rate [removed] if you have any thoughts on collective action.

If you are reading this and are in the process of considering a new subscription - do not, under any circumstances, at the moment. It is an absolute disaster.

May I add - this problem seems to have begun when banks introduced Captcha as an added security step during login. So it is a very specific issue.

Kotak and SBI corp accounts not integrating any longer

Welcome to QuickBooks Community, @NB67.

I can see the importance of downloading your Kotak Mahindra and SBI Corp transactions to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. That's why I'm here to share instructions on how to isolate your banking issue. With this, you'll be able to identify the steps you need to take care of this.

Before we begin, let me provide some of the possible reasons your Kotak Mahindra and SBI Corp accounts stops integrating with QBO:

  • The banks are performing system maintenance.
  • There are notifications on your bank’s website that need your attention.

Based on your complete description of the issue above, it seems that you've already performed some of the basic troubleshooting steps. With this, you can start by manually updating your bank accounts. This refreshes their connection within the QBO program. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select the Banking tab.
  3. Click the Update button.
  4. (Optional) Follow the onscreen instructions for additional authentication.

I've attached a screenshot below that shows the first three steps.

Next, you can sign in to your bank's website. In your account page, check for messages or alerts that need your attention. In case you've updated your sign in or profile information, you'll have to manually update QuickBooks about it.

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select the blue tile for the account you want to update.
  3. Click the Pencil icon.
  4. Choose either Edit sign in info or Edit account info.
  5. Input all the necessary details to complete the process.

I've attached a screenshot below that shows the first four steps.

Once you've successfully integrated your Kotak Mahindra and SBI Corp transactions, all you have to do is approve the way QuickBooks categorizes them. You can also match them against the entries in your account. To learn more about the categorization process, kindly refer to this article: Categorise and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online. It includes details about excluding personal or duplicate transactions.

Additionally, I'd recommend reconciling your credit card account every month. This way, you'll be able to make sure your account is matched with your real-life statements and detect any possible errors. For the step-by-step guide, kindly refer to this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online. It also contains information about editing completed reconciliations.

However, in case the issue persists after performing the steps above, I'd recommend contacting our QBO Support team again. They can create a case investigation about your banking issue and get updates via email. Just go to the Help menu and select the Contact Us button. Then, choose your preferred way to connect.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help. Take care always.

Thank you, but these are well understood SOPs and they aren't working for me. This requires a technical fix.

Thanks for getting back to us, @NB67.

Since you already performed the steps shared by my colleague above and the issue persists, I highly suggest contacting our Phone Support team again. They're able to open a ticket regarding this issue and forward it to our Product Engineers for further investigation.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. In QuickBooks Online (QBO), go to the Help (question mark) icon at the top right.
  2. Select Contact us at the bottom to connect with our live support.

An email notification will be sent to you once this has been resolved. I'll also inform you here when we get the update as well.

Just in case, I'll add these articles for future reference:

I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you, so please let me know how it goes or if you have any other issues or concerns in the comment below. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!

I am not sure which part of my message isn't clear, but I am going to try and save myself the aggravation. The ticket number is [removed]. I'm sure you can locate the details if you'd like.

May I politely request that you desist from gaslighting and attempting diversionary tactics. I am sure you understand that my time is valuable, and I would not be here, neither would I be an owner of 2 QB accounts, nor a QB customer since 4 years, if I wasn't aware of how to raise a case ticket.

I recognize your sentiments, @NB67. I can also see the need to get your banking connection issues taken care of, so your business will get back on track.

I know you've already contacted our support team to help resolve your Kotak and SBI connection issues in QBO. However, this process requires pulling up your account, so I'd suggest contacting them again. They can further look into your ticket details and take action from there.

Once fixed, let's go to the For Review tab from the Banking menu. From there, you can categorise and match your Kotak and SBI transactions to the existing entries in QBO. Doing so will help ensure your financial records are accurate, and there are no duplicates.

Just click the Reply button below if you need anything else. The Community and I will be here to help you.

Exactly same issue syncing with Kotak transactions for my company for last few months. We did the steps described in the earlier thread but no success. Manually updating  has become a nightmare!!

There are no open investigations regarding Kotak and SBI accounts after checking our records, Ravikun.

Let me route you to the right department.

Transactions should be syncing fine. I'd suggest reaching out to our customer care support so an agent can investigate this further. You can follow FritzF steps on how to get in touch with us.

Once it's resolved, you can already assign, categorise, and match the transactions. For the details, check the article RaymondJayO provided.

If you have other banking concerns, feel free to let us know. Keep safe!

I feel you! My SBI problem has got resolved, but QB is just not managing to find a solution to the Kotak issue. I write to them every 2 days asking for an update, so they don't forget!

I just cannot do manual updates, so I am giving this another week before I abandon the account, and move to Tally. At least, with Tally, the CA universe is familiar and I can then hand over the task to somebody else. This impasse we are in right now, is simply not tenable for business!

Wish you better luck than I have had.

My QB is connected with Kotak, HDFC, ICICI accounts... All of them don't sync properly. Last year i called QB customer care for help and they messed up everything. I had to delete and redo one year worth of transaction manually.

It has been more than a month since two of my Kotak accounts stopped syncing and i don't have much hope in QB... Looking for some other software. Any suggestions on alternative to QB in India? Is there anyway to import QB data and export to a third party software? I got 3 QB company accounts and at least 10 bank ledgers.

I appreciate you for sharing the details with me, @KrishVarma.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) automatically uploads your bank transaction. However, it’ll also depend on your bank institution if there are some delays in uploading the transactions. I’d recommend contacting your bank and verify any changes or updates on their end.

Additionally, let’s manually update your bank account to upload the recent transactions to your QBO account. Let me show you how.

From your QBO account:

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Select one of your Kotak accounts.
  3. Click Update a couple of times to refresh the connection between your bank and QBO.

You can also refer to this article for more details and additional troubleshooting steps: What to do if you see a bank error or bank transactions won’t download.

Additionally, you might want to go to the Apps menu in your QBO account and look for an app that has the feature you need. 1.JPG

Once you’re all set, feel free to check this article for reference whenever you’re ready to reconcile your accounts: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

I’ll be around to help you in case you have other follow-up questions about banking feeds in your QBO account. Have a great day ahead!

Ouch that is awful, am so sorry to hear. In my case too, the breakdown integration was one issue but the online advice and my following their steps made it exponentially worse! Like I ha e mentioned earlier, SBI has got resolved (although I receive weird notifications each time I open my banking page, suggesting that updating isn't possible, the updating does happen. So, clearly, there still are bugs and I continue to be concerned).

Kotak - is such a problem, I am astonished and have more or less given up too. It is surprising to me that we don't read enough about this in the public domain; where are customer's voices? Well anyway, I will be checking for Zoho's ability to integrate with these banks and if that does not work, move to Tally. From what I understand, Tally has increasingly becoming user friendly as QB has become inefficient. I'd love to hear if you are considering other alternatives!

QB has abandoned many of us after we built us ecosystem around QB and abandoned Tally.

The major pain point today is Broken integration with Kotak

- Manual transaction is not an option. The thread started in Jul2020, its May 2021 and there is still no fix.

Yes, it never did get fixed. I'm in the process of moving back to Tally, and shall not be renewing my 2 subscriptions when they lapse. This is beyond nightmarish.

Zoho seems to be okay, but they don't allow foreign invoicing on the free trial account, and I'm not yet ready to burn my fingers with another SaaS accounting service, so I'm going back to manual labour for now.

@NB67 is your SBI corporate account still working? My transactions are down and no response from the Quickbooks side for more than three weeks. Once they mentioned that they have apparently escalated it to case with ticket number 1572856125 . However even the best of their product managers aren't competent enough. Any thoughts on how to get the problem resolved from quickbooks? My team is already evaluating Zoho for migrating away... QB worked well while it lasted, it looks like they simply arent interested anymore.

Surprising how same banks work with Zoho seamlessly. @JasroV

Dear Sir there is no use of talking to any QB personnel. They have literally no idea what is happening , We too have started migration to ZOHO since last 2 months. New Financial year will be started with ZOHO for my 2 Accounts: They have ROBOTIC ans for SBI Login:  No one is working on any solution. Worst platform ever. QB started well but now they dont care of the users Plight. So its better to start working on new platform rather than fighting with these ppl as they have no idea whats goin around. same is evident from their replies instead of a solution or update on the issue they are just giving genric answers
