I want to migrate my QB Desktop to QB Online, but I cannot find the menu "Export Company File to QuickBooks Online" in my QB Desktop 2020 trial version. Why?

If you are using QB Desktop Pro/Premier US version, navigate to your File menu > Utilities > Copy Company File to QuickBooks Online. Keep in mind, you will only be able migrating your data to QB Online US version.

There are two requirements that you'll need to complete. So the Export Company File to QuickBooks Online option will show up in your QuickBooks Desktop. 

These are the following: 

• Make sure QuickBooks is up-to-date
• The company file isn't too big to export. The target should less than 500000. Simply press the Ctrl + 1 on your keyboard

Also, converting QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online International is only available in the UK, US, and Canada versions. Since you're using QuickBooks Online International, we have different steps on how to migrate the data. 

You'll need to communicate first with our partner Odyssey, so you're able to transfer the data to the Online version by filling up the conversion form.

Once we received your data file, we can complete the conversion process within three to five business days. After that, we'll migrate your data and invite you to review the results. Once everything is good, we’ll transfer your files for you.

If you have QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Enterprise, the Export Company File to QuickBooks Online option under the Company is unavailable. What you can do instead is the following:

1. Log in as an admin to your company file.
2. On your keyboard, press Ctrl + 1 or F2.
3. Press Ctrl + B + Q, then hit OK.
4. Pick Start your export on the export window.
5. Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company.
6. If you track inventory in QuickBooks Desktop:
   1. Select Yes to bring them over, then specify the as of date.
   2. Select No if you want to set up new items later in QuickBooks Online.
   3. Note: Only QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced can track inventory. Both plans use the FIFO method.
7. Select the Choose online company▼ dropdown, then select the QuickBooks Online company you want to be replaced by your company file.
8. Hit Continue and enter “Agree” in the text field, then select Replace.
9. Choose Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then tap Replace.

As mentioned by my colleague above, converting the data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to the international version of QuickBooks Online (QBO) is only available in the US, UK, and Canada versions.

In your case, you may consider using a third-party application tool to help you migrate the data. While I’m unable to recommend you an app, to view a wide range of options, use specific keywords to narrow down the search. You can check the reviews from other customers to help you decide which app suits your business type and needs.

To look for an app, here's how:

1. On your QBO account, click Apps in the left menu. 
2. Go to the Finds Apps tab.
3. In the search tab, type in the app you're looking for.
