Can you make multiple brands / types of business in quickbooks? I know you can have locations. So maybe that would do. Lets say we have a shop, and an online business, and a hotel. And the accounts should be totally separate. I am fuzzy on the technical terms, but I think I mean separate balance sheets, accounts, P&L, people, salary... everything really. They are not only locations, but different types. Would also have different tax requirements, e.g. VAT or no VAT.
And also people would have different access, And the invoices would be different of course.
Quickbooks desktop is ideal for this you can have as many companies as you wish.
Qb Desktop Uk can be easily reconfigured to meet nearly all types of vat regime's due to its ability to reconfigure the codes and create new. It has much more reporting options as well.
Hello there, dave,
Based on the descriptions you provided, it's best to have separate QuickBooks Online account for each business. Yes, we do have location tracking, however, it won't cover the things you want to do.
Different subscriptions will also mean you have to pay for multiple accounts.
Also, QuickBooks Desktop can handle different types of business as what Graceman mentioned. However, if you need to use VAT, it won't cover International. QBDT is only available for United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.
Please let me know if you have additional questions regarding this.
Hi Mary,
Is it possible to have multiple PnLs in QuickBooks for different products.
We would like to make multiple PnLs for our three different products, with their revenue and their costs so we can easily track profitability of each product?
Allow me to take over and provide some insights about the Profit and Loss (P&L) report in QuickBooks, tomis.
The P&L report is one of the most used reports that allows you to compare the current financial data to another from different periods.
To get a report for your products, you need to pull up different sales reports to get the data you need. I've outlined them below so you know which report to open:
To run those reports:

Feel free to comment below if you need anything else about tracking your products in QuickBooks. I'm always right here to help you.
I have actually seen a post that said to compare Sales by product and Purchases by Product/Service Detail.
But I cannot se "Purchases by Product/Service Detail" in Reports and also, I cannot see Inventory Valuation Summary in "Reports".
Can you help please.
I'd be glad to walk you through how to see the Purchases by Product/Service Detail report and Inventory Valuation Summary report in QuickBooks Online.
Here's how:
For additional information on how to personalize your report, feel free to check out this article: Customise reports in QuickBooks Online.
If the report still isn't available, the possible reason for this is the product that you're using. The two reports are available for QuickBooks Online Plus and Advance. Also, make sure that you have the user access to open these reports in QuickBooks Online.
I've also added this resource that can guide you on how to save your current customization: Memorise report in QuickBooks Online.
As always, I'm available for any help you may need with the reports. You can get back to me by posting your response down below. Have a great day ahead.
I have upgraded my free trial to Plus and I still cannot see the option Purchases by Product/Service Detail.
Also. We are mid-sized company interested in switching our whole finance department on QuickBooks but we would like to have live demo with someone from your team. Can we organize that kind of meeting?
It’s good to hear that you’re interested in QuickBooks, @tomis.
I’m here to help fix your concern with the report and guide you every step of the way.
A cache speeds up retrieval of web page resources and decreases page load times. However, it can slow things down if it gets too big and leads to unusual behavior that affects system functionalities. This might be the reason why you’re unable to see the Purchases by Product/Service Detail report in QuickBooks.
We can perform some steps here to get this resolved. You can start accessing your QuickBooks Online account in a private/incognito browser. Feel free to use these shortcut keys for quick navigation:
Once you're in, check the report. If it's working fine, we'll have to go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to start a clean slate. You can also use other supported browsers as an alternative.
I've attached a screenshot for you visual reference:

Hi Madelyn, thank you for your time.
After clearing cache, trying in incognito browser and on completely other browser I still cannot se "Purchases by Product/Services Detail"
Also, I cannot choose the option "Get a call" - I simply cannot see it.
My company ID from Account and Settings > Billing & Subscription is [removed]can you please check what is the problem? We are a company from EU. Hope that doesn't make difference.
Thank you for following up with us, @tomis.
The Purchases by Product/Service Detail report is available on the other regions of QuickBooks including the area (EU) you're currently in. I'll be stepping in for a moment and share with you the other possible reasons why you aren't able to see the report on your account.
First is the user's access. Make sure to open QuickBooks as a master or company administrator and is not restricted to open the report. Second, I recommend double-checking the QuickBooks version you had. This way, we can ensure that your current plan is either QuickBooks Plus and Advanced.
Here's how:
If the report is still missing, you can open QuickBooks using other supported browsers to help us narrow down the cause of this behaviour.
On the other hand, you may follow these steps so you can connect with our live support and have the Get a call or Get a callback option.
Moreover, here's an article you can read more about running and customising reports in QBO.
Please feel free to post again if you have any other QuickBooks questions. I'm a few clicks away to help. Have a good day!
