How to print using receipt printer?

Hi there, usersharkasifresh.

Any printer can work as long as it connects to the device you're using to access QuickBooks Online. Then, all we have to do is find and open the sales receipt or any transaction you created. Once done, select the Print or Preview button and click Print.

You'll want to check this article for more details about setting up, adjust, or check the printing alignment: Print sales forms.

Keep on posting here if you need more help. We'll respond as soon as we can.

Thanks for attaching the pictures of the printed sales receipts, usersharkasifresh.

I can share some tips that can help fix sales forms printing alignment issues.

First, please make sure to use the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. You'll also have to verify that your browser is configured to work with Adobe Acrobat Reader 11.0 since this program controls all the printing processes in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, the recommended paper size for printing invoices and sales receipts in the program is Letter (8.5 x 11 inches). You can follow the steps below in adjusting the paper size to ensure that your sales forms will be properly printed.

If you're printing in Google Chrome:

  1. Select Sales from the sidebar menu, go to the All Sales tab.
  2. Open the transaction you need to print.
  3. Choose Print or Preview, then select Print or Preview again.
  4. Click Print, then go to More settings.
  5. From the Paper size drop-down menu, select Letter.
  6. Uncheck Fit to page, then set the scaling to 100.
  7. When you're done, click Print.

If you're printing in Safari or Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Select Sales from the sidebar menu, go to the All Sales tab.
  2. Open the transaction you need to print.
  3. Choose Print or Preview, then select Print or Preview again.
  4. Click Print.
  5. Under the Page Sizing and Handling section, select Actual size.
  6. Select Choose paper source by PDF page size.
  7. Under Orientation, select Auto portrait/landscape.
  8. Hit Print to complete the process.

However, if the alignment is still off after performing the steps above, you can try updating your browser or clearing cache and cookies to further isolate the issue.

Lastly, I've included an article that will guide you in designing your invoices and sales receipts to boost your business' brand: Customize sales forms.

You can always find me here if you have any other concerns or further questions about this topic. Have a great rest of the day.

How to print using receipt printer?

Hello there, @erwintire.

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern about printing through a thermal POS printer.

Currently, the QuickBooks Online ROW version does not support POS. What you can do as a workaround is to print manually.

Meanwhile, you can check on the supported apps available in different regions. Just toggle the country to the right one.

Fill me in if you have further questions about printing reports. I'm just a post away and willing to help you in any way I can. Have a great day ahead.

Thanks for chiming in on this thread, Jaime71av.

I'll share some steps to help you configure the printing settings.

Before doing so, let's make sure to update your Adobe Reader. Then, follow these steps to adjust the printing preferences:

  1. Go to Sales > All Sales.
  2. Select the transaction you want to print.
  3. Click the Print or Preview option at the bottom and choose Print or Preview.
  4. In the Print preview window, you can either click Print on the PDF or click the Edit your PDF settings link under Need to make some changes first? section to edit print settings in your sales form template.
  5. When you're done, click the Print icon to test.

Here are some sample screenshots for a visual guide:

To learn more about setting up the printing settings and how to print multiple transactions, you can check out these articles:

Please let me know how it goes after trying out the steps above. I'd like to make sure this is resolved for you. Take care.

How to print using receipt printer?

Hi Pawnshack!

Allow me to help you in printing receipts.

The recommended paper size when printing sales forms in QuickBooks Online is Letter (8.5 x 11 inches). What I can suggest is to look for third-party software that can connect to a receipt printer. That way, you can print it to the desired size.

Please visit QuickBooks App Store to search for supported third-party apps. Please note that these apps may not work in some countries or regions.

I also added this link if you need detailed steps in customising your sales forms: Customise invoices, estimates, and sales receipts.

I'll always be here if you need more help from me. Do you need assistance on how to record payments? Just leave a comment and I'll respond.

How to print using receipt printer?

Why has this not been addressed yet?

An 8.5x11 sales receipt is ridiculously wasteful and not very portable AT ALL!  Thermal Receipt Printers are portable and do not required ink or toner cartridges.

This can be easily address by adding Templates to allow smaller or custom page sizes instead of forcing an 8.5x11 page size.

Something as simple as this could save thousands of people time and money.  Not to mention make the GoPayment app much more appealing to small vendors.

QBO support really needs to stop making excuses for inadequate functionality and start pushing their management and developers to provide solutions!

Suggesting people to go find a third-party app to do something as simple as printing a receipt it fricken ridiculous!

Thank you for joining the conversation, EZ2.

We can only print on QBO using Letter paper or those of that size range. You can find a third-party app that allows you to print receipts using thermal printers by clicking the Apps menu on the left-hand side.

I'd like to include this article in case you need it in the future: Fix QuickBooks Online printing issues on browsers for Windows.

You can always go back to this thread if you have any other questions in mind. Have a good one!

Thanks for joining the thread, @Advance Accounting.

At the moment, printing receipts using a thermal 80mm printers is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Although, you can look for a third-party application that would help you accomplish this task in QuickBooks.

Simply go to the Apps menu and search for the app from there.

On the other hand, you can visit QuickBooks App Store to search for supported third-party apps. Please note that these apps may not work in some countries or regions.
