I am used to using the App on my computer and it wasn't working. I just got it to work by selecting "help" and then "re-set app data" Glad to be back up and running. Thank you.
Hello, @cadet001.
We recently had an issue with logging into QuickBooks Online. However, this was already closed and resolved. Since you’re still unable to log in to the account, I suggest clearing your browser’s cache.
Check the following article for detailed guidance: Clear your browser cache and temporary Internet files.
You can also use other browsers like Chrome, Safari, Edge and the like if you're unable to log into your account in the browser that you're currently using.
Let me know if you still need help with logging in to your account. I'm always here to assist.
Welcome to the Community, @gary15.
I've checked here and no longer found any open ticket about the 504 Gateway Time-out error message. I recommend you follow the basic troubleshooting provided by my colleague above to fix the problem.
Since the Community is a public forum, I'm unable to review the account without asking for sensitive information. If the error continues, I suggest reaching out to our QBO Customer Care Team.
One of them will need to take over and ensure you'll be able to get rid of the error. Here’s how:
You can reach them within this time: Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Saturday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM PST.
I’m attaching an article with detailed lists on the latest enhancements added to the product. Aside from that, it contains some links on how to efficiently run the business: QuickBooks Blog.

It may be fixed in your eyes, but not in the QB Online desktop app. I’ve been having this issue for a week now. Thankfully I can log in via browser in order to do my daily work. But very frustrating not being able to use the desktop app!
Hi there, keith62,
We encourage everyone to access their QuickBooks Online (QBO) account through web browsers. This is to get the most out of QuickBooks experience.
Our Product Team is investigating the bad gateway error when loading companies in the desktop app. I recommend contacting our QBO Technical Team so they can add your account to the investigation (INV-35885). This way, you'll be able to receive an update regarding the issue via email.
Here's how to get in touch with them:
I appreciate your patience and understanding while we look into this matter.
While all of this may be true, I kept having this issue only on Chrome. I clicked on the padlock icon to the left of the URL, and changed the Flash entry to "Allow". Chrome then asked for a reload, and lo and behold, I was able to get in. Don't know if this permanently fixes it, but I'm in!
I'm getting this error message
504 Gateway Time-out
when I try to login through the desktop app. I can log in through web browsers but not the app. This is a real inconvenience for me. It is only happening on my PC - not any others on my network. I have attempted to uninstall and re install the QB app several times over the course of the last few days but it keeps happening.
Please let me know what I can do to resolve this issue.
Thanks!
Thanks for letting me know that you've tried one of our recommended troubleshooting for the desktop app, ABK1.
What we can do now is check if your computer is compatible to use the QuickBooks app. For the system requirements, please check out this article: QuickBooks App for Windows and Mac: General support.
If you're still getting the error, please consider giving us a call. Log in to your QuickBooks account through a web browser and follow the steps below. This way, we can investigate this further why it is happening.
I'll be around in case you have other about QuickBooks. Take care!

When you visit any site then the site grants your request and sends it to web servers and if your request is unable to complete then the server sends back the error to you.
To know that what is 504 gateway timeout and what does 504 gateway timeout mean then you need to read this content.
504 gateway timeout error is a server-side error and this error occurs when the servers are not able to complete a request due to miscommunication between the servers.

3. Change your DNS Servers.
Ok, wait! Let me explain this. The Domain Name System (DNS) is the phonebook of the Internet. When users type domain names such as ‘google.com’ or ‘nytimes.com’ into web browsers, DNS is responsible for finding the correct IP Address for those sites. Browsers then use those addresses to communicate with origin servers to access website information.
4. The last reason can be your ISP provider responsible for this error. Contact them if you don’t get a solution from the above three possible reasons for the error
