I have customer who make recurring payments to me directly to bank accounts. And I have these customers added to quickbooks with their correct address and state(place of supply).
From banking transaction page, I select the sales receipt option for the transaction and select the customer name and GST and generate a sales receipt/case memo directly from the banking transaction page. However, if I go back to see the receipt, neither the GST nor the place of supply is set in the receipt. Why is it so? Isn't it obvious to pick up customer address and set the place of supply and GST rate automatically?
I have already shown and reported the issue via customer support but nothing has happened.
It's nice to see you again here in the Community, @gansal.
Allow me to provide some insights regarding how GST rate and the Place of Supply will show up on your cash memo in QuickBooks Online.
If you've created a rule for your bank transactions, make sure that the Auto-categorise and auto-add option is selected so all the information will be applied automatically on the sales entry.
However, if you want to have the said information entered from the banking page to sync automatically in the cash memo, this option isn't available. You'll need to manually select Place of Supply on the entry since only the GST rate can be auto-filled.
On the other hand, if you mean to utilize the GST-ready invoice, you'll have to customise your template to achieve this goal. In this case, the Place of Supply will now be displayed in your printed invoice and will include the State Name and the State Code.
Here's a link that provides complete details about this process: How to customise your invoice in QuickBooks to make it GST compliant.

With reference to your point "However, if you want to have the said information entered from the banking page to sync automatically in the cash memo, this option isn't available."
When can we expect "Place of Supply" to be auto filled? The customer information is already there including place of supply..you just have to make the change to make it easier for us.
Thanks for getting back to us, @gansal.
I can see how having the ability to automatically fill the Place of Supply in the cash memo would be helpful for you and your business. While this isn't available yet, rest assured that I'll pass along your suggestion to our Product Developers. They're always looking for ideas to consider on how to improve QuickBooks Online (QBO).
