Product Feature Update: QuickBooks Online Migration to Modern View Reports

We are pleased to announce some exciting new changes to Reports in QuickBooks Online: we are creating an improved Reports experience called Modern View to serve you better.

Modern View will offer a more user-friendly interface, improved functionality, better load times, and faster development of new reports.

Classic View from Reports will be removed in batches throughout 2024, and by the end of the year, Modern View will be the only view for using Reports.

What is Modern View Reporting?

The Modern View reporting platform provides several benefits across the QuickBooks product suite including:

  • Better performance when running larger reports,
  • New reporting templates,
  • Improved column and filter customisation,
  • Greater access control to reports and improved security.

We are also introducing Intuit AI Assist to support your analysis and commentary requirements.

QuickBooks Online Advanced users will have additional reporting benefits including:

  • New revenue recognition and fixed asset reports (where the functionality is available),
  • New custom report builder,
  • New pivot table functionality,
  • Additional chart creation capabilities.

Plus with the addition of Spreadsheet Sync, a tool that transfers data back and forth between QuickBooks Online Advanced and Excel, you can streamline multi-company consolidations and reporting.

Why does our reporting capability need an upgrade?

The transition to Modern View Reporting coincides with us shutting down our legacy reporting platform and migrating to a new reporting platform. This new platform has been developed to ensure we can deliver the features and reliability customers have been requesting for many years.

When will I begin seeing changes?

Reports will be updated into Modern View in phases throughout 2024, with the first phase commencing in May. Many reports available today in QuickBooks are available in Modern View, which is indicated by “New Enhanced Experience” next to the report title.

We will continue to upgrade reports to Modern View throughout 2024 and, We will inform you which reports are being migrated and which are no longer available in Classic View during each phase. There will also be time for you to switch back and forth between Classic View and Modern View, before Modern View will become the default view.

How are we ensuring a smooth transition?

We understand any change to QuickBooks can cause concern, that’s why we have engaged an international panel of over 60 accountants to test and approve each report before it is migrated. These accountants use the QuickBooks reports regularly and have provided direct feedback on the changes they would like to see. In keeping with our commitment to the panel and our customers, we won’t remove Classic View for any individual report until they have confirmed that the new reports are as good as the original.

Where can I learn more about Modern View and this change?
