How do I import my payroll data into QuickBooks?

Right now, the option to import payroll data in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is unavailable. As of the moment, this is the information that you can import:

• Bank data
• Customers
• Suppliers
• Chart of accounts
• Products and Services
• Invoices
• Bills. 

Thus, you'll want to consider manually entering the paychecks you create outside of QuickBooks via journal entry.

To create a journal entry in QBO, here's how:

1. Click the + New button in the left navigation menu.
2. Select Journal entry. 
3. Fill out the fields to create your journal entry.
4. Pick Save and new or Save and close.

As I check here on my end, the feature you're trying to access in QBO is currently unavailable. You can send a feature request to our Product Development Team. This way, they'll see your request and consider it in future product updates. To begin, here's how:

1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
2. In the upper-right corner, click the Gear icon.
3. Under the Profile column, select Feedback.
4. Enter a brief description of your product suggestion. and then click Next.
5. Type your email address.
6. Once done, click Send Message.

For now, consider getting a third-party application to accomplish the task and import your payroll data to your QuickBooks Online account. Visit our QB App Store to see a list of 3rd party apps suitable for your business need: QuickBooks App Store.

Has this been 'added' yet?  I say added because it has been a feature in every quickbooks product I've used since 2006 and for some reason it is not available in the online version.  Intuit is virtually forcing me to the online version, and yet it doesn't have this basic feature????  I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in Intuit and it's online QB version... I'm disregarding the fact it is the most confusing conversion to online that could have ever been created.  I'm sure it's a wonderful product for new business owners that are beginning fresh, but for existing owners it's an extremely confusing task and ultimately doesn't live up to the 'owned' version yet cost more.  I'd appreciate a response, thanks you for your time.

I understand how the workflow you're looking for is beneficial to your business. However, as of this moment, we still don't have the option to import your payroll data to your QuickBooks Online.

I have this exact request as well. I purchased QuickBooks for the payroll integration and it's more than strange that there is no excel import option.

For now, we don't have an exact time frame as to when this request will be implemented. An in-depth comprehensive functional testing is yet to be performed in the process of test execution. 

Once done, this will be evaluated and verified if the feature benefits your business needs. Furthermore, QBO offers a variety of reports that cater to your business needs.
