While adding items to tracked inventory having error, "Transactions can have only one foreign currency at a time."

Hi! I've been using QBO online Plus and trying to upload inventory items (5-6) to track them but after entering the details of first item, when clicked saved, the error: "Transactions can have only one foreign currency at a time" shows up every time. Multicurrency feature is activated and using 3 currencies, USD as home currency and while entering the inventory items detail, I've used: Inventory Account, Sales Account and Cost of Goods sold account which are all in USD. But still this error shows up every time. Can I know how to fix this please? Also, Attaching the picture for further clarity.

Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out to the Community space, @Addy4. I can help you get past the error message you encounter in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The Transactions can have only one foreign currency at a time error comes up when you're trying to upload inventory items with foreign currency displayed.

To resolve the error when uploading your inventory items, the currency assigned to your Products and Services should be your home currency. It is because your inventory items are linked to Income and Expense accounts which always use your home currency in the system.

Hi MirriamM! Thanks for the detail but when I'm adding first inventory item, the income account, expense account and Inventory account are all in USD, which is home currency but still getting the same error after trying multiple attempts.

Thanks for getting back on this thread, @Addy4.

I appreciate you trying to upload the items multiple times and verifying that the accounts of your inventory items are all in USD currency, which is the same as your home currency. I'll share some browser troubleshooting solutions to help fix the error while uploading inventory items in Quickbooks Online (QBO).

One of the possible reasons why you're having trouble adding inventory items can be caused by a stored cache and cookies in your browser. I suggest performing the steps through a private/incognito window. The private window will not save any history, making it a good place to identify browser problems.

Here are the shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift +N

Once you're in incognito mode, try to upload the items again. If you're able to upload it using a private browser, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Clearing the cache or cookies is the best way to get a clean slate for your browser. Otherwise, using other supported browsers can be a good alternative too.

If the issue persists, I'd suggest contacting our Technical Support Team. They have the tools to securely look into your account and can do further investigation into this behavior.

I'm including these articles below that provide you with more information about restocking and tracking your items in QBO. Also, you'll find some tips about handling multi-currency and adding foreign accounts.

Feel free to get back to me if you need further assistance with managing your inventory items. I’ll be more than happy to work with you again. Have a good one!
