Our server is old so we bought a new PC which I managed to migrate everything over including quickbooks 2016 and all 4 users were able to login. But when I replaced the server pc with the new pc in another office only 1 person can login to quickbooks, anyone else gets a "You have exceeded the maximum number of users who can access the company at one time, please check your license or purchase another license? I can have up to 5 users? The only thing that changed was I went from wifi to ethernet when swapping pc's.
I matched the server name so all other workstations could connect to the map drive, I tested this before I move the pc across. We were all able to login as per usual into the new pc. I don't understand why it would show this error by just moving the pc to a other office.
Hello there, accounts1.
This error can be caused by one these reasons:
We'll try some solutions to fix the issue.
First, let's verify the number of licensed users. Here's how:
If the number of users are less than expected, please contact QuickBooks Technical Support to have your account checked. They can verify how many licensed users can access the software. Here's how to contact them:
Though, if the number of users is enough, let's re-setup multi-user environment .
Lastly, configure firewall and internet security settings.
Please let me know how it goes after trying these steps. I'll be here if you need further help.

Hello, @annpacheco.
Let me share some information so your authorized users can log in to your QuickBooks company file all at ones.
Just to clarify, what QuickBooks version you're using?
If you're using QuickBooks Desktop, one of the reasons mentioned by my colleague @Kristine Mae may have caused the error. Let's perform verify and rebuild to isolate any possible data damage or corrupted data.
Here's how:
1. Create a backup copy of your company file.
2. Ensure your QuickBooks software is updated to the latest release version.
3. To verify the data
a. Click the File menu.
b. Select Utilities.
c. Choose Verify Data.
d. If the Verify Data pop-up window appears, just click OK.
4. To rebuild the data
a. Go to the File menu.
b. Choose Utilities.
c. Select Rebuild Data.
d. QuickBooks will prompt you to create a backup copy, click OK.
e. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the backup.
f. Once the process is complete, click View issues.
g. Close the QuickBooks Verify/Rebuild Results window.
5. Close and open QuickBooks again to ensure all components are updated.
6. Identify damaged transactions based on the QBWin.log.
7. Apply the appropriate fix on the transaction/s.

Hi Melvin, it was so long ago I don't remember much but I used file doctor and it fixed everything up, also remember to register the host and validate/activate the installation by emailing your product code to [email address removed] (South Africa), if they still operate. Also the database server manager application that comes with QB but be running in the background. Mary Joy also is right.
