Hello Community Users, we just wanted to pop in and update this thread. In the past if you did not see an option to invite an accountant in QuickBooks Self- Employed, it was down to how you were paying for the subscription. If you were paying via Android or Apple billing it would not show the option. However, this has changed and now all users no matter how they pay for the subscription will see the option to add an accountant user.  Just go to the Company Cog and click on the Accountant (New).

Any questions at all please let us know.

Hi MM15,

If the client is on billing through Intuit then they will see the the option to add an accountant when signed in via a browser by going to the Cog Wheel > Accountant and entering the email address.

Thanks

Thanks for chiming in on this thread, Beckers.

I'll add some additional steps to help you add the user.

If you're using QuickBooks Online and would like to invite your accountant, you can follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary admin.
  2. Go to the Gear Manage users.
  3. Click on the Accounting firms tab.
  4. Select Invite.
  5. Enter your accountant's info and hit Save.

Your accountant or user will receive an email for the steps.

Here's also a link in reference to the steps above: Invite an accountant to review your books in QuickBooks Online.

For QuickBooks Self-Employed, the option is unavailable.

Please keep me posted if you see the option. I'm available to help you out some more. Take care and stay safe!

Hi I am unable to see these options, please refer to my screenshot.

Invite an accountant

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  2. Select your profile ⚙ icon.
  3. Select Accountant.
  4. In the Invite your accountant field, enter your accountant's email address. Then select Send invite.
