Hi there, stevenlockyer.

Let me help you add the Owner's Equity Drawings to your QuickBooks Online account. When you say "unsuccessful', is there an error or the system won't let you save when adding the account?

You may want to perform some browser troubleshooting steps to isolate and fix the issue. Let's start by clearing the history on your browser.

Doing this will remove the junk files on the browser and it will function efficiently. Follow the steps to clear the cache for your browser.

After clearing the cache, make sure to restart your browser for changes to take effect. To have the best and most secure experience with QuickBooks Online, make sure to use a supported, up-to-date browser.

Once done, add again the Owner's Equity Drawings by logging in to your account via a browser. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select New.
  3. From the Account Type ▼ drop-down, select Equity.
  4. From the Detail Type ▼ drop-down, select Owner's Equity or Partner's Equity depending on your situation.
  5. Click Save and Close.

In case you need to track money that your partners or owners invest or draw from a business, here's a guide for you: Add an owner or partner to your books.

Moreover, I'd suggest using this chart through this article: Features Availability In The Mobile App. It'll tell you what functions are available on the QuickBooks app for your device.

Keep me posted if there's anything else you need. I'm always right here to guide you through adding the Owner's Equity Drawing in QuickBooks.

Look no further, @stevenlockyer.

I'm here to ensure you'll be able to add an equity account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To clarify, are you having a problem creating an account using your QuickBooks Online (QBO) mobile app or through a web browser?

In the mobile app, you only have the option to view the list of your accounts in the Chart of Accounts screen. For more information about the features available when using the app, feel free to check this article: Compare mobile app features.

Adding an equity account can be done using a web browser. If you're having trouble creating a new account, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue. We can start by accessing your QBO company using an incognito browser. This way, we can verify if this is a cache-related issue.

Below are the keyboard shortcuts that you can use:

  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

Once opened, go to the Chart of Accounts page and add your equity account. From there, check to see if you can view the drop-down list. account.PNG

If this works, you'll now have to clear the cache of your regular browser to eliminate the old and corrupted files. If the same result, I recommend using another supported browser or device as an alternative.

Also, making sure that your account matches your real-life bank statement is easy in QBO. To do so, you'll have to perform the reconciliation process regularly. When finished, the program will automatically generate a report for that session.

Just in case you have any other questions about adding a new account in QBO, please leave a reply below. I'd be happy to assist you further. Take care.
