I'm here to ensure you'll be able to add an equity account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
To clarify, are you having a problem creating an account using your QuickBooks Online (QBO) mobile app or through a web browser?
In the mobile app, you only have the option to view the list of your accounts in the Chart of Accounts screen. For more information about the features available when using the app, feel free to check this article: Compare mobile app features.
Adding an equity account can be done using a web browser. If you're having trouble creating a new account, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue. We can start by accessing your QBO company using an incognito browser. This way, we can verify if this is a cache-related issue.
Below are the keyboard shortcuts that you can use:
Once opened, go to the Chart of Accounts page and add your equity account. From there, check to see if you can view the drop-down list.
If this works, you'll now have to clear the cache of your regular browser to eliminate the old and corrupted files. If the same result, I recommend using another supported browser or device as an alternative.
Also, making sure that your account matches your real-life bank statement is easy in QBO. To do so, you'll have to perform the reconciliation process regularly. When finished, the program will automatically generate a report for that session.
Just in case you have any other questions about adding a new account in QBO, please leave a reply below. I'd be happy to assist you further. Take care.
