Import from QB2013 Company file

My laptop died so I reinstalled QB2013 to find out I couldn't start it with my license as Intuit had disabled this from last year. There was a telephone number to call to get a number to install but that just gave a message that everything was switched off in 2023 and then hung up.

Purchased 'Self Employed' found out couldn't import from support

Purchased 'Simple Start' found out from support had to use MoveMyBooks

The upload process of MoveMyBooks requires quickbooks to be running with the company file open. Which I can not do as Intuit has disabled this.

So I have 2 online accounts and one desktop version that I can't use and 20 years of data effectively lost.

How can I import directly from company file?

Thank you for your long-term partnership with QuickBooks, @A Person. We want to ensure you can effectively work with your company file.

Since you don’t have access to the required desktop software, you can download and install a 30-day trial version of QuickBooks Desktop 2023.

Before you can proceed, create a backup copy of your QuickBooks Desktop company file with the guide of this article: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

Here are the steps to export your Desktop data for use with another program:

  1. Export your lists and create a detailed chart of accounts report, plus open transaction reports to help you set up.
  2. Download your sales and purchase invoices:
    • Go to Preferences and remove the period end date.
    • Check for spelling errors and change notifications before starting.
    • Select invoices for the desired year. If you have more than 25 invoices per month, it’s better to download them by month. Save them as PDFs if needed.
  3. Download and save copies of all your bank statements.
  4. In your new accounting system, enter opening balances and import your customer and supplier lists.
  5. Recreate or import your open transactions and adjust your open balances accordingly.

@A Person

Can you install the trial version of QB Desktop 2021 and open your file on it? You can use the trial version for good to access your historical data.
