Barclays.net & Barclays iPortal

Hi,

I am aware that Barclays Corporate customers could not previously have an auto feed into QuickBooks using Barclays.net. However, as you now support Open Banking, i wondered if this had changed and if Barclays Corporate customers could use an Open Banking feed using Barclays iPortal for permissions?

Thanks

Hello tomburton14,

The best way to verify this in, is to log into Quickbooks and copy and paste the address bar from when you are on your log-in page on the Barclays Corporate site, into the search bar.

Our list doesnt' specify Barclays Corporate, but if it is available, doing the above is how you will find out if your account can be completed through the automatic link.

If it is not there, it will give you the facility to suggest a new link - and our engineers will get to work to make that available under open banking connections.

Hi James,

A client of mine has just switched from Barclays Business Banking to Barclays.net (should be possible to connect through the Barclays Corporate option on QB), however they are having issues.

Barclays have informed them that only Xero can connect to Barclays.net, however QB support have told me that it should be possible to connect.  Are you able to help out on this?

Kind Regards,

Tom

Thanks for posting this question - did your friend get any resolution? I am having the same issue.

Barclays Coroprate Banking IS available in the search bar, and connects through to Barclays Iportal, even displays our banking name and recognises the pinpad card reader - then after entering our pincode which it confirms is correct, an error messgage appears ' Error in processing request ' You are not entitled to perform this action. Please contact the systems administrator'

Barclays Helpdesk told me the same, that they only connect to Xero -which I find baffling. If Quickbooks CAN connect to Barclays Corporate using the Iportal - right through to displaying our name and connecting to the pinpad - there must be some exisiting connectivity there already?

( screen shot attached of Barclays Corporate listed in Quickbooks Connect an Account screen)

Why exclude Corporate business when we have so much to gain from having this connectivity?

And more importantly, what can be done to fix this and is it Barclays or Quickbooks that need to sort out this problem?

Hi there,

Unfortunately no, we didn't manage to get a resolution.  At the moment we are just having to rely on CSV imports, which are required daily with the level of transactions so a real hassle when it seems that the connectivity option is so close yet so far.

I imagine now the issue must be for QuickBooks for discuss with Barclays to enable this functionality, so I can't imagine it will be a short term fix unfortunately.

Thanks so much for your quick reply.

It seems a very strange policy for Barclays to only link with one accounting software company and deny corporate customers the choice.

We have got a call booked with our Barclays Relationship Manager who thinks a possible workaround is to have ' Online Banking' set up, just for the purpose of linking to QBO, but keep our Barclays.net account for everything else. No idea yet how this will work practically but I'll report back if this is a solution.  In the meantime, yes, csv files.....

No problem, thank you for your response.

That at least sounds promising, let’s hope there is a work around and if you do find a possible solution, an update would be really appreciated.

Thank you so much!

Good news - our Barclays business manager was able to provide the solution for us - Our permissions within Iportal were not set correctly - this are the steps I followed in Iportal and it is now working.

Hope this pastes ok here and works for you- Good luck!

(still can't believe Barclays 'helpdesk' don't believe this is possible!!)

Step

Action

1

From the Admin menu, select ‘Role Profiles’

2

Locate the role profile entitled ‘Default - Third Party Permissions - Account Information Permissions - View and Input’

Click the ‘action’ button on the right hand side, and select ‘Assign Users’

3

Toggle on the selected role profile for any users that require access, then click ‘Next’

4

On the review screen, check that the required selections are correct, then click ‘Next’

5

If these changes require approval, your customer will receive a systems notification, and a second Administrator must approve via the Barclays iPortal worklist

Stage 2

Once a user’s been given Open Banking permissions, they follow the steps within the Third Party Providers (TPPs) application or service, to set-up the capability they want.

As part of the set-up, they’ll be redirected to the Barclays iPortal Open Banking screen, so that they can give their consent to Barclays by following the steps below.

Step

Action

1

Login to Barclays iPortal

2

On the ‘Sharing your data’ landing page, select which account/s they want to share with their TPP

3

Consent to share data can be given for 90 days at a time and this can be revoked at any point

Hi

Thank you so much for posting this!  I have followed all the instructions regarding the third party permissions etc however, I still can't link iportal as I use QB on google and can only use internet explorer the iportal.  Therefore, the window doesn't open correctly and I'm unable to log in.  Any further help would be much appreciated.  Thanks

Helen 47,  I had a similar issue with Chrome/IE but you can open both QB and Barclays Iportal in Firefox and that worked for me. Good Luck!

Hi RHACON,

You have me to ensure you can bring your transactions into your QuickBooks Online account.

If your bank is supported under Open Banking regulations, you can connect it to your QuickBooks account. However, account type and product coverage will differ between banks.

If your specific account type isn't supported yet, you will need to import the transactions manually. Here's an article as your guide: Upload the transactions manually

Afterward, I'd suggest categorising the transactions to match them with what you've already entered into QuickBooks. Here's an article as your guide: Categorise transactions.

Feel free to reach out to me again if you have concerns with the categorization process.
