Can you change the date of a reconciled account once you have reconciled it? I mistakenly entered the incorrect year of the month I was reconciling

I reconciled my account by the month and have entered the 2023 month instead of 2022.  I can't see how I can amend this without having to make a journal entry

You're welcome, contact159! Yes, you're correct. Correcting a finalized reconciliation needs more help from an accountant.

They can help you figure out the things that need to fix in no time. I'll make sure you can find one by following the steps below.

  1. Go to the Find-a-ProAdvisor website.
  2. Enter the specific location, service, and product.

Can you change the date of a reconciled account once you have reconciled it? I mistakenly entered the incorrect year of the month I was reconciling

Greetings, @contact159.

If you need assistance altering the reconciliation monthly/year-end date in QuickBooks Online, you've come to the correct place.

The procedures below are to change the reconciliation ending date if you haven't finished the reconciliation.

Here's how:

  1. Click Accounting in the left panel and select the Reconcile tab.
  2. Choose the bank account from the Account drop-down list.
  3. Tap the Resume reconciling button.
  4. From the upper right-hand corner, click the Edit Info button.
  5. Change the reconciliation year date from there.
  6. Hit Save.

Moreover, you will need an easy way to undo the reconciliation and change the year date if you have already concluded the process, only QuickBooks Online Accountant has the Undo feature. I would advise bringing your accountant in to undo the whole reconciliation period.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper right corner, and select Manage Users.
  2. Go to the Accounting Firms tab, enter the accountant's email, and click the Invite button.
  3. Hit Save.
  4. Once invited, have your accountant undo the whole reconciliation.

If you run into any mistakes when reconciling your accounts, the article will show you how to repair them: Fix issues at the end of a reconciliation in QuickBooks Online.

If you need any additional help with reconciliation, ping me over. I'll always be available to assist.

Thank you so much for your response!  Unfortunately, I think because I have already finalised the reconciliation process I would need an accountant to help me undo my error but I do not have one! Would someone from the QuickBooks team be able to help me?
