It's done my head in trying to get the CC payment process over the last several months. As you said their helpful seems to be incorrect or not particularly clear,
But, just this morning I finally found out what it does. Do the reconcile, and save the bill for payment later. Then when the payment comes out of your current account record the payment as a credit card payment. At this point it doesn't seem correct as the CC amounts won't change. Now wait until your bank catches up with your CC statement balance with the linked account. QBO then matches the payment properly and pays down the CC account to match. It's stupidly confusing and convoluted, but, welcome to the world on QBO unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply and a somewhat confusing answer. The way it's working doesn't seem right. Having to wait till the banks align themselves. It go's against the grain and certainly wouldn't help when running reports. The desktop version never worked this way. It behaved exactly as I expected it to. So I'm paying way more than my previous desktop version lost some functionality, have am extremely frustrating and weird way of paying off cc and it doesn't do what it says on the tin.
Although you've given an explanation and the process is correct it's not really a solution but I will mark as so.
I know it's confusing. The difference between Desktop, well beside it being superior in every way, is the linked accounts is an extra process.
To simplify it.
Reconcile - create a bill
Current account payment is taken - Record it as a CC payment against your credit card account (obviously)
Wait until the CC's bank account balance is paid down - The CC payment will show as a matched payment and balance things up.
After 22 years using Desktop I still find QBO painful at best and down right stupid at all other times.
