how do I remove a rule from a transaction

You can either edit or delete the rule to prevent it from being applied to transactions, Yasmin.

If you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO), please follow the steps below to edit or delete the rule:

  1. Go to Transactions and select Rules.
  2. Find the rule you want to change and click on Edit to adjust the details to prevent it from applying to the transactions. Once done, click Save to apply the changes.
  3. You can also choose to Disable or Delete the rule to stop it from being used in future transactions.

If you're using QuickBooks Self-Employed, please refer to the Edit or delete a bank rule section of this article for the steps: Create rules to speed up reviews in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

You can refer to this article to match your bank statements and QuickBooks entries: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
