Bank transactions not matching

Hi there, Jenny.

When downloaded bank transactions don't match the ones you've entered in QuickBooks Online (QBO), multiple factors might be at play, such as differences in dates, amounts, or payees.

Additionally, outdated bank feeds or duplicate entries are common reasons for discrepancies. Consistently reviewing and matching your transactions can help identify these issues and prevent problems, enabling you to address any challenges quickly.

To start, double-check the transaction details. Ensure dates, amounts, and payee names match between QuickBooks and your bank statement. Also, confirm the imported transaction was downloaded to the correct bank account in QBO.

If the system doesn't automatically match a transaction, manually match it:

  1. Go to the All apps menu.
  2. Select Accounting and click Bank transactions.
  3. In the Match/Categorize column, find a suggested match, or click the sparkle icon to expand the row.
  4. Review transactions in the Match Suggestion column and verify the match.

  5. Click Post once you've confirmed it.
  6. If the suggestion is incorrect, select Find other match or Match to search for other options.

If a transaction was both manually entered and imported via the bank feed, duplicates might occur. To avoid conflicts, check the Categorized/Posted tab and undo one of the entries. You can also remove any duplicates by temporarily excluding them for further investigation.

Additionally, ensure your bank feed is up to date by clicking Update in the Banking section. Verify that no bank rules are miscategorizing transactions.
