Supplier refund and credits

Hi

I am trying to match a supplier credit and refund.  I created a Bank Deposit so that I could create a supplier cheque and add the deposit and credit then match this up with the actual refund.  But the bank deposit is not including the vat.  Can anyone help please?

Many thanks in advance

Supplier refund and credits

Handling supplier credits, refunds, and their corresponding VAT can sometimes be tricky, especially when it comes to bank deposits in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Felix02.

To better isolate this issue, let's make sure that the supplier credit you created properly reflects the VAT. When creating a supplier credit, ensure you are entering the amounts correctly and specifying the VAT rate. You can visit this article for more detailed processes based on your payment method or specific circumstance: Handle supplier refunds and credits in QuickBooks Online

On the other hand, since you already created a bank deposit, we can edit and include the VAT amount and rate. Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the bank account you put the deposit into and select Account history.
  3. Search for the bank deposit and select it to get more details.
  4. Tap Edit.
  5. Make sure the VAT amount is included and you choose the VAT rate in the VAT field.
  6. Press Save and close

Once done, match the supplier credit with the bank deposit. Then, find the deposit and select it. When you see the "Match" option, you can select it. From there, we can match it with the supplier credit you've created. For the steps and details, check out this article: Add and match downloaded bank transactions.
