Hi
Still quite new to QB. I need to create a new version of the QBO for our business - then import the files from our current QBO. However I need to filter out certain historical transactions not needed in our new QBO. How easy is it to do this - do you end up not being able to see the wood for the trees...?
There will be so many transactions. Also, the history in the new QBO only needs to go back a couple of years - but possibly retain the history (going right back) for certain customers / suppliers or parts of the Balance sheet etc
Has anyone experienced the lessons learnt from such an exercise - if so, be interested to hear about your experiences! Many Thanks

Hello Jeremy-allcock-e, thanks for coming back to us, the only way to get the transactions really would be to go to the chart of account > account history > set filter to all dates and export.

Hi there, @jeremy-allcock-e.
Thanks for sharing your concern in QuickBooks Community.
With regard to filtering certain transactions, I'd suggest performing these through Microsoft Excel. You can manually filter your data using this platform before importing them into QuickBooks.
On the other hand, you can look for a third-party application to help ease your task when removing certain transactions. You can either look for an app outside the program or search for it directly from your QBO account. Simply log in to QuickBooks and search for an app from the Apps menu.
Just in case you'll want to speed up the review process of your uploaded transactions, you can create bank rules in QBO. With this, the system will automatically categorise those entries for you.
I'm always glad to help if you have any other queries about managing your transactions in QuickBooks. Simply leave a reply below and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Take care and have a good one.
Many thanks for this. To export data across all ledgers out of the QBO that needs to be replicated, do I follow the 4 steps on the link below - are there other steps needed?
