I'm wondering if there is a feature in the Quickbooks (IOS app or web browser) that allows copying of journeys I do regularly, and the ability to make ajourney in to a return or round trip.
For example I make a trip twice a week to a clients home, returning to my office after each one. At the moment I'm entering these journeys manually each time, in each direction, which is quite time consuming. It would be really useful if there was a one click option to turn the journey in to a return trip, and then be allowed to copy that complete journey on to different days.
Thanks in advance.
Hi there, Aforandy.
Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing details on how the mileage feature works in QuickBooks. Then, ensure you'll be able to achieve your goal by performing some alternative way.
Replicating trips or changing them into a return or round trip is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online. However, you will have the option to enable automated mileage tracking, which will automatically track trips from start to end. Then, leave the rest to QuickBooks. Please know that only admin users can track mileage in QBO.
Here's how to turn on mileage tracking:
Once done, set location permissions for your mobile device. You may open this article to see the details on how to perform the process: Set up mileage tracking and vehicles in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed.
You can refer to this article to view information on how you can disconnect your hotspot while driving to fix the issue in tracking your work trips: Fix mileage tracking issues in the QuickBooks Online mobile app.
You can check this out and get back to me if you have follow-up questions about tracking mileage. I'll be around to help. Wishing you a safe and productive rest of your week.
I'm aware of the auto tracking feature on the app however due to its high battery drain and tendency to track ALL journeys (not just business) i don't find it suitable, which is why I'm looking for a simple way to input journeys manually. I've also submitted a feature request for the app to add a 'track journey' button within the app for easier use.
I guess I'll submit another feature request to have a button in the app to "make return journey' or some way to copy and paste a journey. As it stands though, the mileage logging method is quite poor.
Hello Aforandy, thanks for coming back to us, and providing us with this feedback, we will take this all on board and submit a request on your behalf as well to the developers.
