I've got your back and help re-authorise QuickBooks with HMRC, @andrewbrooks117.

For you to submit VAT returns for your client, make sure you turn on MTD in QuickBooks and connect to HMRC. Since a Take Action status appears in your QuickBooks when trying to connect to Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT, here's why it shows and how to fix this.

This error message usually appears if the login credentials used to connect QuickBooks to HMRC are not authorised to retrieve information or submit a VAT return for the VAT registration number entered in the VAT settings.

To resolve this, please check out this article for detailed information: Take action status when connecting to HMRC for Making Tax Digital (MTD). It includes explanations and the steps on how to fix issues with authorising the connection.

Once done, you can start processing VAT returns in QuickBooks. You can review these links for more information:

Keep us posted if you have other concerns about re-authorising QuickBooks with HRMC. I'll be happy to help you. Take care!
