I'm trying to manually change an employees tax code, I access the employees tax information, press the pencil icon, enter the new tax code and press save. It doesn't save and if I hover over the exclamation mark a message pops up telling me what a tax code usually looks like, however it refuses to save my entry regardless of the code entered.

Standard, no draft runs saved. I've had online help this afternoon, it appears that Qb doesn't accept all HMRC tax codes as written, by modifying the tax code entered it was accepted. All that remains now is to see if it works.
Hello Fookinsickofqkbks, Do you get any error message showing up when you try and change the code for the employee? Can we check have you in HMRC's settings set up the automation for tax code changes in third-party accounting software?

No automation set-up hence asking to change it manually
