Does anyone know how to TUPE employees to another PAYE when the business is sold? I know you don't issue P45's but not sure how to get them off my payroll?

Hi there, linda.doughty7@g.

Currently, QuickBooks doesn't have a document that can support TUPE. However, if the business owner changed, you can generate Time Activities by Employee Detail report that shows YTD. This way, it can be transferred to the new payroll of the new business owner.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Reports menu on the left panel.
  2. Select Activities by Employee Detail in the search bar.
  3. Click the Customize button and make any changes.
  4. Go to the Time Activity Date and choose Year to Date.
  5. Click the Run Report button.

For additional information about customizing a report, you can refer to this article: Customise reports in QuickBooks Online.

Once done, you can give that information that shows on the report to the new employer.

Please refer to this article to see steps on how you can export reports, lists, non-posting transactions, and attachments: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

Does anyone know how to add a TUPE an employee - we have just taken on staff on a TUPE contract that is entitled to Paternity pay - how do I use the P45

Hi Kelly152, thanks for joining this thread - we don't currently support TUPE employees on either of our payroll systems; if the employee start date is entered as the date when they were transferred, and not the date that they originally began employment, then the system would flag the employee as not eligible for paternity as they must have continuously worked for 26 weeks.

Hi,

Need urgent help please. We are selling our business and need to run the last payroll in next couple of days. Employees are transferred under TUPE.

Do I show employees as resigned from my payroll? In which case P45 will be issued. Is that correct?

I obviously need to make sure this is my last payroll and let HMRC know, however, I am not sure on how to do that without showing employees resigned and P45 issued.

Please help.

Thank you.

I want to make sure your payroll issue is resolved as soon as possible, MD15.

As mentioned by my peers, QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll doesn't support Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) regulations (TUPE). I recommend consulting with an advisor at HMRC for additional assistance to ensure we are in compliance with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) regulations. They can go over the specifics of how to handle the situation, particularly with the last payroll run and the processing of P45s (not to show employees as resigned).

Once you've gathered the necessary information, use these resources to complete specific payroll tasks in each payroll version, including P45 processing:
