Hello Kevin Ginsberg, Yes that is correct the re-activate button was removed under the employee details you can only terminate an employee from the pay run now so it records on the FPS. It would then be a case of setting up as a new employee yes and informing HMRC. It is not ideal with having casual/part-time staff however this is what has to be done now in this circumstance
Hello Sue, if you have terminated an employee in advanced payroll, you would not be able to re-active them you would need to add as if a new employee and make new employee records.
Hello Emma,
Just to confirm, does this mean that the 're-activate' button that used to be available is no longer available for Advanced Payroll?
We are a small tourism business with lots of casual and part-time staff that come and go throughout the year, so the re-activate button was very useful. If we have to create a new employee each time an ex-employee returns (which happens a lot) this will be less than ideal.
Many thanks,
Kevin (from the Miniature Pony Centre)

We also run a seasonal business and we are very frustrated. We cannot add the employees back as it says the NI number is duplicated!! How can we pay our staff???
