I have had to migrate to QB online for payroll as it is no longer supported in Desktop. How do I now record those transactions in Desktop - bearing in mind that all my employees in Desktop have a class attached to them and I need to produce a report showing their payroll/taxes/expenses by class. I currently have no classes set up in QBO and can't see a way to do it. Is there a simple way I can export the data from one system and import it into the other without any manual work. I have called the helpline but got cut off after 25 minutes - having had no help from the person I was talking to. Thank you.

Hello Community Users, We just wanted to pop in and add an example of payroll journals here

Hi there, Fifield76.
We're unable to import payroll data from QuickBooks Online Payroll to the Desktop version. You can manually record them as a journal entry instead. Here's how:
Also, follow these steps on how you can turn on Class Tracking in QBO:

Thank you. Sadly I only have the basic QBO package (as I already pay for desktop on a monthly basis and am only using it for payroll) so there is no categories option in the advanced tab.
Would you be able to give me some help with journal entries - it is not something I have used before? Say I have £1,000 payroll for a particular class - I go into the journal, post it as payroll and then am i positn as a a credit or a debit? and what would the reverse balancing transaction be?
Many thanks.
