How to submit an EPS to HMRC for zero payroll in previous month? Before the software change, this option would come up in the 'payroll taxes' section.

Before the software change, this option would come up in the 'payroll taxes' section but now it wrongly says there is nothing to submit. The form is due to HMRC tomorrow - help!

How to submit an EPS to HMRC for zero payroll in previous month? Before the software change, this option would come up in the 'payroll taxes' section.

I appreciate you for posting your concern here in the Community, K18. I'd like to provide you more information about submitting EPS in QBO.

If you're subscribed to QuickBooks Online Payroll Core and haven't paid any employees for a pay period, you don't need to submit an EPS to HMRC yourself as QuickBooks will handle this process for you. Additionally, the EPS will be automatically generated on the 6th of the month and can be submitted on or before the 19th.

Moreover, if you've migrated from Standard payroll to Core Payroll, ensure to double check your HMRC credentials are correct in the Payroll settings to avoid errors by the time QuickBooks submit it.

If your AutoFPS is not enabled, you can follow these steps on how to.

  1. Go to the Gear icon in your QuickBooks account, then select Payroll Settings.
  2. Select the pencil icon next to UK tax.
  3. Enter your PAYE and accounts office reference numbers.
  4. Select any options appropriate for your pay runs if you have not done so already.
  5. Enter your HMRC credentials.
  6. Ensure that Submit FPS automatically to HMRC has been checked.

Furthermore, you can refer to our article to help you navigate in QuickBooks Online Core Payroll.
