I submitted VAT return for the period of Nov23-Jan24.I received a letter from HMRC, it says I overdue the amaount I submit return. How can I review already submitted one

I submitted VAT return for the period of Nov23-Jan24, 2days delay. It was submition by myself for the first time so followed advice by QBO experts. I was waiting for the refund however I received a letter from HMRC, it says I overdue the amount I submit return. I have no idea what was wrong at all and have to check the record and correct it. Could you tell me how to see it?

I've got you covered, brittania. I'll share the steps in checking your VAT return record in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To check your return, here's how:

  1. Click Taxes on the left navigation panel.
  2. Choose VAT. Then, go to the Returns section.
  3. Locate the return. For paid returns, tap View return in the ACTION column. For open returns, select Prepare return.

When you submit a late return and mark it as filed, you'll need to contact our Customer Support Team to help you address this.

For further information about fixing MTD issues and errors, refer to this link: Take action and fix MTD issues and errors in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, I'll share this resource to help you document your VAT refunds in QBO: Record a VAT payment or refund in QuickBooks Online.

Drop a reply below if you have other questions about managing your VAT returns or tracking refunds. I'd be glad to assist you again. Take care!
