I was able to report no Payments to employees automatically to HMRC. How can I do that now? I currently have no employees.

This has happened since the new Payroll System was introduced. I do not know if, when, I will employ new staff. thanks in anticipation.

Welcome to the Community, Jonathan. I see you're trying to figure out how to report no payments to HMRC with the new Payroll System. Let's break down the steps together and ensure you have all the information you need.

Submitting an EPS is crucial for informing HMRC about various employer-related payments, including when there are no payments to report for the period. HMRC requires these updates to ensure that your record is up to date and that they know you are compliant with payroll requirements, even when no wages are paid.

Automation can save you time and reduce the risk of forgetting to submit your reports. To set up automated EPS submissions in QuickBooks Online, follow these steps:

  1. Open QuickBooks. Launch your QuickBooks application to get started.
  2. Click the gear icon Settings in the upper right corner.
  3. Select Payroll Settings.
  4. Click on the HMRC Tab. Here you can manage your HMRC-related submissions.
  5. Scroll until you find the EPS submissions section.
  6. Schedule the submission. Under Submit employer payment summary (EPS) monthly on, select the date of the month you prefer it to be automatically filed. This ensures that your EPS is submitted regularly without manual intervention.

It's important to recognize that there are two methods to submit an EPS based on whether you are using Standard Payroll or Advanced Payroll in QuickBooks.

1. QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll:

2. QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll:

Additionally, if you're encountering payroll issues or error codes in QuickBooks, there's a detailed guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve these problems. The guide outlines how to identify the error, follow step-by-step instructions to fix it, and verify the resolution by resubmitting your payroll information.
