Import Error - Sageone Payroll to QB

Hi there, High Garrett.

Let me elaborate on the error you've encountered when importing your payroll employees into QuickBooks Online (QBO) and provide a resolution.

The error "Sequence contains no matching element" refers to a sequence or collection that is expected to have at least one element but is found to be empty.

When importing your latest FPS sent to the HMRC into QBO, I recommend consulting with SageOne Payroll first to get the file in an XML format. An error similar to the one mentioned above can also be triggered if the file format doesn't match what QuickBooks requires.

Additionally, during the process, you'll still need to fill in some employee information manually, as the FPS and Excel files don't contain all the data needed to complete the employee setup. To obtain the following information, simply select the employee's name, which will take you to their profile, where you can finish setting up the employee:

  • Email address
  • Employee start date
  • Pay rate
  • Hours worked
  • Employee bank details
  • Pension details
  • After you have successfully set up the employee, you can repeat these steps to set up the rest of your employees.

Once you've configured your file, we can start re-importing it into your company file:

  1. In QuickBooks Online, go to the Payroll menu.
  2. Select the Employee tab
  3. Click the arrow next to Add Employee.
  4. Select Import Employees.
  5. Choose the FPS file upload from the dropdown options.
  6. Click the Select file... button and choose your saved FPS file.
  7. Select Confirm upload?.

Once done, you can start your pay run when you are ready to process your payroll for a specific check date. Refer to this article based on your payroll plan:
