NIC amount different in QuickBooks Payroll than in my HMRC account

Has anyone experienced the same issue? I've employed myself as the director for £1041.67 a month for the last two months of the previous tax year. Quickbooks calculated NIC to be £39.15 for month 11 and -£39.15 (negative value) for month 12. However, my HMRC account shows something different. £39.15 for month 11 and £0 for month 12. It makes £39.15 in my books. Why could that happen?

In the main post, I've attached a screenshot from HMRC. Here I'm attaching a screenshot from the QuickBooks report.

Hello Hantslmp, thanks for posting on the Community page,  which payroll do you use in QuickBooks is it our advanced payroll or our standard payroll?

Thank you for your response. Standard payroll.

Thanks for both screenshots and which payroll it is your using as well.  The -39.15 looks like a refund, you can check your P32 report to check if this is a paye refund.

Yes, I think you're right. Here is the second page of P32

I have one more question. This employee didn't have any taxable income in (2022/23) as well as this tax year (2023-24) except for this job which started 01/02/2023. Your email support suggests that I should be using the letter B instead of the letter A for this employee (because they started the job before 6th April 2023), and it causes the issue, which I think it's untrue. What do you think?

Hello Hantslmp, no problem at all, what our fellow agent has told you on email support is correct, you would use B- only job (currently) not A-first job since 6th April 2023, as they started on 01/02/2023. If you think otherwise we would advise you speak to an trained accountant or payroll advisor to confirm this.

Hi,

Okay, but I've run the starter application in the previous year when it was asking for 06/04/2022, not 2023. Should I change it when the tax year ends? Or set it to B when started the job? Also, it shouldn't affect the year 2022-23 then, right?

@HantsImp

Just be careful you're talking about the same things.

NI Letter B - Married women and widows entitled to pay reduced National Insurance (very rare today)

(https://www.gov.uk/national-insurance-rates-letters/category-letters)

P46 Statement B - This is now my only job, but since last 6 April I have had another job, or have received taxable Jobseeker’s Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or Incapacity Benefit. I do not receive a state or occupational pension

That's my mistake, it's not about NI letters, it's about the P46 statement.
