Paying leavers in QBO Standard Payroll

Hello,

We have a salary paid employee that will leave the business in the middle of the month and before pay day. I have marked the employee as a leaver and put in a leaving date.

However, when I run the payroll, the employee salary is still for a full month and not the prorate figure that we expect.

Could you please help me correct this or is it a quirk of the system?

Thanks

QuickBooks Online payroll is unable to calculate pro-rate for you. You'll have to manually edit the salary of the employee for the period when running the payroll. You can do this by going to the Payroll menu and selecting the employees you want to modify. For more details, you can check this article: Edit employees in QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.

This is pretty poor in my view! QB should be able to calculate this automatically rather than leave an employer having to manually adjust it.

Anyone processing payroll knows that it depends upon the employees contract what they will get paid if they leave and it needs to be pro rata'd.  You cannot expect Quickbooks to know every employees contract, it is down to the person running the payroll to calculate this.  If you need any help with this in the future please let me know and I will try my best to help.
