I am trying to access an excel spreadsheet version of the gross to net report. It tells me it is successfully generated, but where is it???
Hello Bjhallam,
Welcome to the Community page,
When you click excel to download the report, do you get a bar running that is white at the bottom of the computer appear if you click on the left-hand side where it shows the excel document click that and it will open the excel for you. Let us know how you get on.
Thanks for the response, but no, I do not get that at all. All I have at the bottom of the screen is the close button on a grey bar. I have tried it a number of times, both without creating a report first and after creating a report. Each time it tells me the report is created, but there is nothing anywhere on the screen.
Hello, @bjhallam.
The files that you've downloaded are automatically saved in the Downloads folder. Try to check if the file was found there. This folder is usually located on the drive where Windows is installed (C:\users\your name\downloads).
Also, make sure to disable any pop-up blocker from your web browser when downloading or exporting the file.
Check this article for more information: Export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.

HI
Thanks for responding.
Nope, nothing there. I do regularly download and/or export files from QBO without any problems - all the files from Paysuite exported to Excel and downloaded perfectly.... it is the Advance Payroll application that is not working. I have checked and pop ups are not blocked.
Any other suggestions?
Let me help you locate this file, @bjhallam.
Aside from the steps provided above, we can also go to the Downloads section in your browser. This way, we can open the Excel file directly. If you're using Google Chrome, you can simply press CTRL J to view your downloaded transactions.
You can also open your Excel application, then go to the File section and select Recent. This is where you can find the recent places of your download transactions in your Personal Computer.
In addition, you can customise your report before exporting it to Excel. This way, you can focus on the details that matter the most to your business. You'll also have the option to save its customisation by clicking Save customisation. Then, give your report a unique name and select Save.

Thanks Raymond - I had already tried all of your suggestions without finding the report anywhere. HOWEVER, I then decided to try a different report, and went to the pension contributions report. This time I got an a Download drop down as well as the Run Report option (AND a pdf option), so I clicked on that and selected Excel, and the report downloaded without any problem. Went back and tried the gross to net report, and this time when I clicked on Excel I got a message saying that Quickbooks wanted to download multiple files and asking me to accept, I said yes, and bingo! the report downloaded. It is now downloading without any problems every time I try. I have no idea why I did not get this message before, but it seems that downloading the pension contributions report has unblocked it and it is now working fine.
