Welcome to the QuickBooks Community! If you're reading this then you've successfully followed steps about taking part in QuickBooks Online Open Banking research.
We'd love to kick things off by getting to know everyone involved in this project so please comment on this post about what you do for a living, where you're based and what you already know about Open Banking (if anything!)?
Hey. I'm Chris, and I'm the treasurer of a charitable trust and church in Sheffield. I already use the existing bank feeds with Yorkshire Bank, CAF Bank, Barclaycard and Paypal, but these often don't work very well. I'm really looking forward to Open Banking providing a better solution!
Hi Chris and others,
Kamil here from Honest Advisory. I run a small practice in South London as well as working with a number of organisations who use QB feeds for HSBC, Barclays, RBS, PayPal. Really looking forward to integration and bank feeds from mobile banks like Starling and Tide as QB feeds are long overdue. Hope I can help speed things along!
Hi there
I work for a small accountancy firm with approx. 125 clients using QuickBooks. Our clients are varied with consultants, coaches, retailers, fitness companies, hairdressers and many more.
Not really sure what opening banking is about and how it differs from say direct feeds. We are quite excited about physical copies of bank statements being made available through QBs though (as announced at the QBs connect event) as this will be handy for when there is a difference between the bank feed balance and the balance on QBs and identifying where the balance started to go wrong.
For this open banking research - will it apply on just one client that we select or will it have to apply to all our clients?
Thanks
Sarah (KFH Accounting)
Hi @Sarah Wittridge , @Kamil_HA and @crmarrio
Thanks for joining the Open Banking research! Open Banking will eliminate connection issues that you may see with standard feeds, so great news all round.
On the banking tab within QuickBooks Online, are you able to see a notification to update your bank connection?
Hi, do you mean within a client?
If I am in a client, I have a message in the banking tab that says "we were able to get transactions from xxxBank starting from 7/6/19. You can match items from existing records or add them as new records. Need more data?"
The "need more data?" bit is a hyperlink which takes me to file upload instructions.
This is the only message I have in the banking tab.
Thanks
Sarah
Thanks for sharing @Sarah Wittridge. May I ask who your client banks with in this instance?
I've attached a screenshot below of what you should be seeing if you or your client is banking with either HSBC personal, Bank of Scotland, Santander and Halifax.
HI
I do have clients that have Santander (business banking). I have gone into one of them and I do not have the message you have put up. I only have the one about getting transactions from xx/xx/2019 etc.
Is that message only viewable perhaps by the client and not the accountant?
Thanks
Sarah
Hi @Sarah Wittridge , thanks for your feedback on this, are you still unable to see this message?
It should be the same for client and accountant .
Hi Jack
Sorry I still do not see that message :(
Thanks
Sarah
Thanks for testing with us @crmarrio .
I've forwarded your screenshot to our Product Managers here so that we can take a closer look at why it failed.
Hey. I'm Valentina, I already use the existing bank feeds with Barclaycard and Paypal, these working very well but I'm really looking forward to Open Banking providing another solution!
