Great question, Michelle! You don’t need to edit your chart of accounts to a certain layout in order to use the MTD ITSA Reports starting in April. QuickBooks Online is designed to work with your existing chart of accounts as long as your accounts are properly categorized to meet Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
There isn’t a predefined template for the chart of accounts, but accurate and consistent classifications will ensure that your reports are compliant. To make sure everything is set up correctly, review your account categories and ensure transactions are assigned appropriately.
