Hi this is still not working my end.

 

Our bookkeeper, said its working her end if she logs in to our account, its all fine.  But not on my computer its not.

 

Any help appreciated.

Hi Robinson2, did you register your own company for MTD with HMRC, or did your accountant register for this on behalf of the company using their Agent Services Account?

We registered ourselves, it worked for a couple of months, inputting CIS on quickbooks then just randomly stopped, and has not worked since,

If you haven't already, you can do the basic troubleshooting steps to see if this is just caused by random browser issues. However, if it's the same thing, please contact our QBO Support to check this further using more tools.

 

We can start by signing in to your QBO company using a private window. This step will disable the extensions and stops the cache from saving your search history.

 

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N.
  • MS Edge and Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P.

 

If private browsing resolves the issue, you can clear your browser's cache. If not, please use a different browser to see if this only happens to the one you are using.

 

To contact our QBO Support:

 

  1. Click on Help and click the Search tab.
  2. Click Contact Us at the bottom.
  3. Enter a sentence to describe the issue and click Continue.
  4. Choose Start a chat.

 

On the other hand, if you need references for QBO, just visit the main support page and click More Topics.

Hello,

 

Any help appreciated. I am trying to submit a VAT return. Have been MTD registered for a long time now, had no previous issues submitting through Quickbooks. Go to submit to HMRC and get the error message below and the page just returns to my "prepare return" screen. I'm not trying to change anything in the return, simply submit it using the standard method that has worked before. 

 

I have cleared the cache on two different laptops and both show the same message, I have checked my connection to HMRC and no issues there either. Thank you.

Thank you for joining the thread, @JDR81.

 

We can check the Close the books section and see if there's a date entered. If so, we can remove it and turn off this function. You should then be able to submit the VAT without receiving an error message.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, select Account and settings.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Select the Accounting edit pencil icon.
  5. Check if there's a date entered in the Closing date and remove it.
  6. Turn off the Close the books feature.
  7. Hit Save and then Done.

 

Once done, you can now submit your VAT returns. Then, record your tax payments in QuickBooks to keep your information up-to-date.

Thankyou, that still hasnt worked, there wasnt a date in the close books section.

 

I have been on to HMRC and they have said go on Government Gateway, put in VAT Number etc but it says unable to verify account.  I seem to be going round in circles, they cant see a problem, and everything quickbooks are saying doesnt work either.

Hi Robinson2, thanks for checking that. Are you certain that the credentials you're entering to access the government gateway account are correct? As QuickBooks uses the same VAT information, if you're unable to access your GG account successfully, we'd recommend contacting HMRC to help restore your access.

Yes everything is correct, HMRC have checked this.  We did have it all working for a month or so, then it just stopped for no reason.

We have an open investigation into this matter. No, worries, we'll take care of this so you can file your taxes as soon as possible. 

 

Our engineers are already aware of this matter, and they're currently working on a permanent fix. I'd recommend calling our Customer Care Team to add you to the list of affected users. Once fixed, you'll receive email updates coming from QuickBooks.

 

Go as follows: 

 

  1. Go to the Help menu, then click Contact Us.
  2. Type your concern in the box and tap Let's talk.
  3. Choose either Get a call or Start a chat.
  4. Complete the required data and submit the request.

 

Make sure to contact them within business hours to ensure a swift response.

 

Once fixed, you can submit your VAT returns. Then, to keep your information up to date, record your tax payments in QuickBooks.

Hi,

 

I have the following error code:

 

Filing date should be a valid date and lie between end date and today's date (code: "INDIRECTTAX-19702")

 

The start date is 1/8/22 end date 31/10/22 and I can't submit today 10/11/22

 

What am I doing so wrong?

Let's fix this error by modifying the start date. I'm here to guide you.

 

Let's modify the start date to 31/10/22 and then enter today's date as the end date. From there, file the taxes again.

Hi I have the same problem as  the above person . I have gone through your check list and I am connected to HMRC so I dont know why I am getting this message can any one help or will I have to contact HMRC direct. Thank you  mtd.png

I am quite frankly very confused.
I have set the date to the next month from my last submission (paid to May).
Is the effective date from that date?

Hello Vanessa64, thanks for posting on this thread, Can you click on the take action and look at the bottom of the screen if you see client/agent not authorised, if you have been filing for over 18 months then you need to do a partial disconnection via account and settings and advanced and then re grant the authorised and it should resolve it for you.

We have this same issue. I've been trying to sort this out for weeks. Stepped through all the troubleshooting but no joy. HMRC keep saying we need to wait for it to connect but it's been weeks and our return is now overdue. Pulling my hair out here.

In desperation I opened up my old computer and all went through perfectly, submission receipt received.  How and why was this possible?

I'm glad to hear that your submission to Making Tax Digital (MTD)  went through perfectly, 100seanby.

 

Your MTD for VAT Government Gateway login details may have been set up and entered correctly. And, that's why there isn't an issue when you submit your tax returns from the old computer.

 

If you're using a new computer, make sure you:

 

  • Sign up for MTD for VAT with HMRC and have a confirmation email. This can take up to 72 hours to arrive.
  • Have your MTD for VAT Government Gateway login details ready. This will be included in the confirmation email.
  • Check that you are using the correct VAT registration number.

If you need more details about the submission, you can contact our QuickBooks Online Live Team. They can pull up your account and check your tax filing history.

I've just logged in to look at my return and its come up with a Take Action error "We can’t connect to HMRC right now" yet the Making Tax Digital Enabled logo is showing in the top left corner. When you go to the Take Action button it just says about signing up but I'm already signed up and have submitted returns for the last 3 years without any issues. All the help topics are related to people just setting up MTD.

 

Anyone know how to fix this as I'm baffled, thanks in advance.

I cannot connect to HMRC to submit a VAT return, done all the authorisation sequence multiple times, 'we cannot connect to HMRC right now.' is all I get. Tried disconnecting authorisation and re connecting with no success.

When I try to edit VAT settings to correct the - 'effective date for new scheme' and save the correct date, it defaults back to 31/10/20. Could this be the issue?
