VAT online

I have the message "Cannot connect to HMRC right now".  I have signed up for MTD.  I have a confirmation email saying I am enrolled.  The VAT number in QB is the correct VAT number.  What else can I do?

Hello Mitch73, 

 

Welcome to the Community page, 

 

Can you try to disconnect it all and reconnect it all in the main settings. 

 

main cog wheel>account and setting> advanced>turn off disconnect mtd there and then reconnect it there. Go back to the taxes page and hopefully that error should be gone.

Hi.  I have now done that and also seen the threads from previous issues.  This has still not worked.  I have removed it from Quickbooks.  Also removed the access from HMRC and re-done both.  Still giving the same message.

At this point, I suggest contacting our Technical Support team for further assistance. They can investigate as to why you're getting this specific error message, and proceed to fix it from there. 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company. 
  2. Click the Help menu. 
  3. Select Contact us.

Type in a short description of the issue, then you have the option to either contact our live support teams. 

 

Once that's taken care of, see this article if you have other questions about MTD within QBO: Making Tax Digital (MTD) - FAQ. You'll see a list of common questions about this process, as well as the short answers for them.

That was pointless.  The "Live Chat" simply consisted of someone reading through the same articles that I have already done and then saying "try talking to HMRC".  Very helpful!

Hello Mitch73, Would it be possible for you to attach a screenshot of the error you are receiving? We can get this looked into, we can see you have already gone through the main steps to test why this would be on the first filing. What is the period you are filing for?-Emma
