Can't have duplicate Company Names

I work with schools and lots of schools have the same name (for instance: St Michael's Catholic Primary School). There is no way to have the same company name for each. Can anyone suggest a workaround? I can't believe that Quickbooks won't allow more than one customers company to have the same name. Only recently started with QuickBooks too...

Can't have duplicate Company Names

I'm here to clear things out for you, PastProductionsEducationLTD.


I understand that you're working with different educational institutions. Please know that QuickBooks Online allows multiple customer companies to have the same name. You'll just have to make sure that the display name is slightly different from each other to avoid errors and confusion. Here's how;

 

  1. Select Customers & leads from the sidebar menu.
  2. Head to the Customers tab, then click the New customer button.
  3. Enter the complete company name in the Company name field.
  4. Make the customer display name slightly different. You may add a number after the name.
  5. Enter the complete name again in the Name to print on checks field.
  6. Fill in the other necessary information.
  7. When you're done, click Save.
