Hello Megan881, thanks for joining this thread. The in-built migration tool is no longer viable due to the retirement of Internet Explorer which was a key component in the process. Instead, migration from QB Desktop to QB Online would need to be through a third-party migration provider. We've partnered with Movemybooks to offer all Desktop customers (versions 2009 onwards) up to two years of data transfer for free (additional years can be purchased from MMB if required). To view full information on the conversion process and to begin the migration, click here.
Hello Feltham,
Welcome to the Community page,
You should be ok to export your data from QB Pro 2014 to QB Online. If it is not you will get an error message saying that you need to upgrade the account to a newer version in order to be able to export the data file out from your QB Pro account and into QB Online.
Afaik, you can only convert data to QBO from a supported QBD version. Send me a private message and we will share the trial version for QBD 2020 to upgrade your data and convert it to QBO.
Hi Afiak
Thanks for the reply. We are using the movemybooks option to move our data to OB online at the moment.

Hello, I also have QB Pro 2014. I am trying to export to QB online but I get a message to say that ...I will need to update my software to access my account here...
This is when I go to company file and try and export to QB online from there.
I tried the updates and restarted but I am still getting the same as above.
Any advice would be appreciated?

If you are using QBD 2014 UK version, they have disabled the built-in conversion tool. You must use the conversion service provided by MMB to convert your data to QBO UK version. If you need to convert data with special requirements (e.g multi currency, attachments), you may consider purchasing another 3rd party conversion service.
