Thank you for reaching out to the Community. What we can do is look at the CSV and make sure we can get it to upload in a test Self Employed account and then email you back with the amended file as we have looked at your previous contacts and can see you have already gone through some formatting steps which have not resolved the error.We have sent an email to you at the email address registered to the Community

Hi Yes I did get a reply.
I was testing importing petty cash data and was adding a future date and this was causing the problem. When I tested with the current date it worked.

I am having this issue even when importing 2 basic transactions with all defined format restrictions

- Remove zeroes (0) from the file and leave those cells blank.
- Select the column header labels (from the dropdowns) that match the column header labels in your CSV file.
- The file should contain the following information: Date, Description, and Amount.

- Log in to your QBSE account to access the Transactions tab.
- Click the drop-down menu next to Add transaction.

- Click the Browse button and locate the file you've exported above.
- Select Include all transactions and then review your transactions.
- Hit the Continue button and click OK then Done.

I want to make sure you're CSV format will correct so that you're able to export into QuickBooks Sel-Employed.
Please note that every bank has different CSV files. With this, I suggest checking the file format associated with your bank.
Once verified, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. They'll be able to initiate a screen sharing session to take a closer look to moreover isolate this issue and guide you with the whole process.

I exported an excel from the bank (4 column) and copied the data to a new csv comma delim.. to ensure that there’s no format issue.
what would you suggest as the next step?

What are the four columns that you have? You should have Date, Description, Money In, Money Out, there should be no symbols in the money columns and we recommend that you refomat the date column. How may lines is the Excel comprised of?

Yes exactly the same column except Money in/out is Debit/Credit
There are no formats on the currency and I tried uploading twice. Once with no format to the date and QB reads it as numbers and once with short for date and then it shows properly on the screen.
I also ensured all transactions with some numbers in the description are also not added.
There are only 2 transactions from past dates in the file.
The thing is your batch update is not designed well....many other people are facing this issue and your product team should build this feature with proper parsing. The amount of time answering, looking for solutions and trying different formats is way more then adding stuff manually.
Instead of answering millions of questions and finding clues in other people's answers. Please do me a favor and send me a sample csv file from YOUR side with some transactions that your system accept and let me try uploading that as is.
If it works then your file works and I will replace my transactions, if not then we know it does not and we post on reddit and tell everyone to stop bothering with the same question that has been plaguing the company for a while.

Hello NasUr, The date format needs to be in YYYY so in this case 13/05/2022. To do this If you can in the excel file right click on the date column and select to reformat the cell using the date option, once that has been done it will change the column to be YYYY, and then if you can save the file and try the import again. Thanks

That error message normally occurs if the data on your CSV file is incorrectly formatted. I've also tried creating a CSV file based on your screenshot and was able to successfully import it.
To fix this, you'll want to make sure that the format of the date is mm/dd/yyyy (05/13/2022 ) and the amount should have two decimal places (20.00). Take a look at my screenshots below:
