For the life of me I can’t get QBSE and my bank to allow the connection anymore. It’s been 3months! Whether through the app or on the desktop the connection is disallowed as a problem/please try again later. Any ideas? On iPhone/MacBook

I appreciate your time getting back here, alisonhawtin.

We're unable to find any ongoing investigations about the NatWest connection issue. However, there are reasons why you're unable to connect the account.

Here are the following:

  • Bank restriction or is under maintenance
  • Your bank has multiple names on the list

To resolve, make sure to log in to your bank's website and check if there are restrictions on the connection or if it's under maintenance. If everything is clear on the bank's side, let's copy the bank's URL. Sometimes a financial institution will have multiple bank names or might have different types of accounts but only release one website for QuickBooks Self-Employed connection.

Then, follow these steps to search for the account:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Self-Employed account.
  2. Go to the profile ⚙ icon and then select Bank accounts.
  3. In the search field, enter your bank's URL and click Continue.
  4. Enter the sign-in information you use for your bank's website.
  5. When you’re ready, hit the Connect securely button.

I’m here to ensure you’ll be able to connect your bank to your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account, @alisonhawtin.

For me to provide you with the right resolution, can you share with me the name of your banking institution? Additional details can help us narrow things down.

In the meantime, let’s perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate this issue. I recommend closing and restarting the app. If the same thing happens, I suggest clearing the app data. Let me guide you how.

In your IOS device:

  1. From the Menu ☰.
  2. Select Help & Feedback.
  3. Click Refresh Data.
  4. Then select Refresh.

You can also utilize this article for more details and troubleshooting steps: Troubleshooting Quick-Start Guide for the QuickBooks Online app. This article is for QuickBooks Online (QBO) app but also works with QBSE mobile app.

Additionally, you have the option to import your bank transactions to your QBSE account. Log in to your account via a regular web browser and import your transactions from there. I got you this article that can guide you through the complete process: Add older transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Once added, you can now easily categorise those transactions in your QBSE account.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with in managing your bank feeds in QBSE. I’ll be more than happy to work with you. Keep safe!

Hi alisonhawtin,

Thanks for getting back to us here. So that I can check for any reported issues, can I take the specific bank provider name, account type (current, savings) and whether this is a business or personal account? 🧐
