Has anyone else's data disappeared? Everything I put in has gone. Receipts mileage everything for last 3 months.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community, caleb_hooke-hotm. Let me share some different scenarios on why data in QuickBooks Online are missing. Then, provide troubleshooting steps to ensure you can see your data for the last three months.

 

There are possible reasons why data disappeared in QBO.

Can we first ask you to double check the account you are signing into is the correct information and that there is not more than one account showing(we have seen in the past users accidentally take out a new trial and sign into that in error or users who have signed into QB Self Employed instead of QB Online).

 

If the sign in is correct it  could be an authorized user who deleted the data. To verify this, I recommend visiting the Audit log page. From there, you'll see the list of the company's activities, the changes made, and who made them. Also, you're able to confirm who removed some of the data in your account.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Select Audit Log.
  3. Select the Filter panel to filter UserDate, or Events and narrow the results.
  4. Hit Apply.

Once confirmed that the issue isn't from user activities, it might be that you're utilizing an incorrect company file. I suggest going to the upper left corner beside the hamburger icon and verifying the company you're opening.

 

If the issue continues to occur, I recommend logging in to your QuickBooks account using a private browser. This way, you can verify if the cache full of history and temp files causes the unexpected behaviors. Private browsing doesn't store local files or cache. 

 

Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using:

 

  • For Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

 

If it works in incognito, you have to clear the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.
